My warmoth-strat

Hey folks. Being a bit hangoverish from last nights activity and zombieing around the world wide web, I stumblet upon this little warmoth-geek hideout. Made my head a bit lighter drooling over the many fine guitars inhere. Especially in the strat-section of course  :icon_thumright:

So, thought i would contribute with some pictures of my warmoth-strat.

The guitar: Mahogany body and neck. I believe the top is brazillian rosewood. I wanted to make a strat with Gibson features - bindings and mahogany. And it turned out as i hoped. Warm, richer sound. It's still very strat'ish, but with a bigger and more clear sound. I mounted it with a set of FletcherLandau picups from Suhr, and a SSH humbucker.

I bought the body from the warmoth stock, and it was allready routed to S-S-H. Suited me fine, and it was at 50% of the original price. (When we order from USA we pay 30% extra in taxes etc. So price matters  :(

I knew from the start, that i wanted a pickguard on it. So even tho it was a shame to cover the beautiful top, i had a clear idea of what i wanted - and thus i slapped on the pickguard. Im not really in to strats without pickguards.

Here we go:

The body, the day i got it: Just to show the top.

And here it is among the rest of the family:

From left:
Blueridge BR-163 with martin pickup (the next guitar will be a clapton or Mayer sig. Martin... Gotta have that sound!) But untill i blow a hole the size of alaska in my economy, the BR-163 is more than sufficient. Its a great bluesy acoustic.

Ibanez AK105SM-ABR.
Really nice hollowbody. I have never played much hollowbody, but i got hooked on the neck and feel of this ibanez. Only 200 of these babies worldwide - or so i have read.

G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy. Thinline-hollow without the f-hole. I never found a Fender Tele, that really impressed me. Then one day i had the chance to play this one, and now its not leaving the family ever again. Swapped a Duesenberg TV outlaw (cant remember the full name) for it. True Fender-killer :)

US. Fender Stratocaster 2001. Bought in New York. Besides being my first real strat, it's an awsome guitar. You know how different the standards can be in quality. Well, i believe this one is way over avarage. Have played many strats, that didn't really had the same feel and touch to it. 100% fender strat  :icon_thumright:

Gibson Les Paul Standard 2007 (i think its 2007). Allways dreamed of owning either a Wine Red or a Goldtop. Ended up with this one. 60's neck, as i prefer it, and mounted with Pearly Gates pickups... What can i say... Billy G - the reason i ever wanted a Les Paul in the first place :)

The Warmoth Strat.

Ozark Deluxe Resonator. Nice midrange resonator with a Headway pu-system. I would love to some day get me a highend resonator. But this is a very nice resonator compared to many of the other midrange reso-type guitars outthere.

That's it. I know they weren't all Warmoth... But one was - and its BROWN! :cool01:

Kind Regards from Denmark

ps. hope the english isn't to crummy.  :dontknow:

Beautiful!  I love the grain on that top. That's a mighty fine collection you have there.

I am a huge fan of mahogany, and this is an excellent build. Too bad its not a hardtail.. :D

Hi runem. Welcome - nice to see you here - away from home  :laughing7:

Ahh :) Hey Hans... Hehe... Well gotta get out in to the world with the guitars sometimes :)

that looks real sharp with the top wood, binding, and matching chrome covers, especially since the jack isn't covering the face of the guitar. If it sounds half as good as it looks it's gotta have TONEFORDAYS!!!

Now thats a class act!  Very hard to improve on that at all.  The colors, the textures of the grain on the headstock, fretboard and body... nicely offset by basic black on the scratchplate.  I'm wondering what a vintage pearl might look like on it.. with creme knobs, but... it cant be a huge improvement on whats already very very slick indeed.

If I had to choose one thing to change, I'd put creme knobs on it, but leave the pickguard alone.

Hey. well, i can give you an example from when i was putting it together. I had some different pickguards laying around. I tried a white, but never took a pic of it, as it just wasnt right. The bindings are cream, and it somehow gave some visual unbalance. I considered chrome knobs etc. as well, but it looked cheap and plastic'ish.

So, my original idea was more or less how the guitar ended up. But had to try some different looks to be sure...

And without pickguard:

I don't really like a strat witout the pickguard. I can see why some people are in to it, but i prefer oldschool...

This was the original idea by the way. The original idea wasnt a full warmoth, but a mix of a 79' strat neck and hardware with a new body. But i ended up with doing a full warmoth and selling the 79'. Thus the vintage-style neck on the design-layout

And the sound is so phat and mahogani-meets stratocaster'ish :)

Yeah, that was, as you can see in the pics i just posted, my original idea. But somehow it just wasnt easy on the eye. And besides my sunburst has white pu'covers and knobs. so didnt want a clone of that :) But believe me. I tried a lot of different comnitations before i decided - and never looked back... Believe me - i get so many comments at jamsessions etc, caus all the "old" bluesguys love the oldschool and sorta simple line of the guitar

You did just that - nice job and guitar...and a very nice collection of instruments too, I might add  :glasses10:
