Hello All,
since this was the first site  i got into a few years back i learnt a lot & thanks .
So i had this idea for a tele in my head for a few years & i wanted to get it out of my head & into my hands. I always liked the simplicity of the Tele, but wasn't sure i could live with the slab body so this is one of two builds that are going on since last year.
here's a pic (hope this works)

Sorry about the pic size (someone will have to tell me how to size it right).
Me and computers are not best buddies.
Any way here's some details
The body is made from Teak its the thickness  of an SG
It has more of a radius edge front & back, except from the cut away to the switch, which
is pretty much trad tele radius.
The switch will be SG/LP 3 way recessed instead of Tele blade.
Control plate is inspired by the Tele bass.
Its routed for Tele bridge pu & neck humbucker. I talked to Ken @ ROARDHOUSE i hope to put his T90 in the bridge & PDX90 (HB sized 90) in the neck.
The hardware & neck are off the other build just for mock up.
Finish wise this is a poly (sorry Toner) satin 2 PK low sheen.
Neck I was going to go VMT Maple/Rose but I can't get  Goncarlo out of my head
(no finish neck low sheen body).

Looks pretty nifty and nicely unusual to me!  Sweet job.  Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Peace
Bagman

Looks very nice indeed  :icon_thumright:

Either use Photobucket, which I find is best !!
Here's a Link from another forum, of how to post pic's using PhotoBucket.

OR
In iPhoto .... Email pic's, when that comes up drag your pic's to desktop or folder or whatever.
Change from JPEG to JPG
Then just add into attachments.
DONE  :icon_biggrin:

Thanks
Bagman, rapfohl, Kostas, & jusatele. Updown i gave photobucket a try & the futureguitarnow was very helpful thanks again.

The above pics show the body after a grain fill sand back stain & 2 coats of 2 pk poly a bit on the thick side.
Fujicamerapics1675.jpg

this is after the mock up, sanded back to level out the high spots & get closer to the shiny
dimples.
Fujicamerapics1679.jpg

you can see it matting with the shiny little dimples.

Well with the Thanks giving sale on at Warmoth & me needing a neck I went VM Maple /Rose
59 roundback 6150 frets cream dots (should match the pickguard.)
I have Gotoh sg38 tuners ready to fit.
I have a few construction pics now that i got the pic post sorted.

I made a template to do the control  cavity & pickup neck position. I used a home made pin router got pu cavity about 4mm down with a larger radius bit hoged out the waste with a fostner cleamed it up with a template bearing cutter hand held router.

The switch was done from the rear with guide bushes & different sized straight cutters.
Neck pu would be pin router to outline shape, hog out with fostner hand held router with template cutter to level bottom & finish tight radius  with pin set up.

No worries, I am a Mod on that site too. Under a diff name.

Hey looking good leo12, I'll be watching  :glasses9:  as I just got my 1st Tele today.
I love these builds from scratch  :icon_thumright:

Gomer the Teak is stained & satin clear, its not a solid colour. Here's a more recent pic if I get a dry day I will get an outside pic.
DSCF2247.jpg

Its a deep burgandy colour I grain filled it with a 2 pk marine epoxy mixed with ground coffee beans to give it the dark grain effect. from experience i should have mortar & pestled it .

Pics of the picguard

stuck to template.

template routing.

routing complete. Then 45 degree edge bevel.

counter sinking the holes.
If you look at the 1st pic (picguard photo) you will see an alignment pin to drill screw & countersink holes. Thats how I did the picguard (cream from stew mac).

Neck  arrived Maple/Rose VMT 59 round back 9.5 radius 6150 frets.

& back

I was thinking clear closer match with p/guard or should i amber it?

another neck i did recently.

Oh wow, I'm a little late to the party, but I love everything about this - great concept & execution, looking very much forward to seeing it whole!  What did you end up going with for the neck finish?

Hey Corey the party's still going on,
Its gonna be a satin poly because i have plenty left.
I haven't made up my mind to amber or keep it clear or some where in the middle lite amber.
I will take the sharp edge off & put a radius on the back like the pic of the neck wlth the tuners soon.
Thanks for the positive comments
