My push/pull is a push/push

I got my W 'stuff' order a few days ago.  The 500k push/pull pot I ordered requires you do push down on it to release into the up position, similar to a power switch on a stereo.  I'm assuming this means I will have to float my knobs above the guitar body to allow room to push down and still allow clearance to not scratch the finish every time I do so.

Is this common?  I always thought push/pulls were literally just that - you pull up on it to be 'up', and then push down to go back.  I'm not happy.  Why would a pot manufacturer even consider this type of setup for a guitar?

Either you ordered wrong or got the wrong part. Check your invoice.

Warmoth carries both push/pull and push/push. It's a personal preference if you like one over the other.

Personally I like push/push because I never have to think about which direction I'm supposed to operate the switch. It's always a push. Good to have things simple in the heat of action. YMMV.

EDIT:

I see now they only carry push/push actually.

Haha, well that's a double edged sword. I too like to keep things simple, so I use push/pulls so I can tell what position it's in just by looking.

What's the difference between pull/push and push/push when you look?  :icon_scratch:

SP - how high did you have to float your knobs?

There is approx 3/32" clearance when in down position before pushing it down.
