My problem Child

I picked up this body from a builder SURFLEAF.  P90 Humbucker combo.  I had high aspirations. 

1st attempt was a figured walnut veneer over the alder body.  It failed horribly with bubbles and uneven wood.  I obviously do not have the right tools for this.

Second attempt was gold leaf.  I will be the 1st to tell you that NITRO over gold leaf adhesive is a BAD idea.

3rd is attempts is something I know...flake.  So I painted the body a white base.  I will then mixed all the flake colors I have and spray.  Depending on how it looks I will do a small burst.  Likely black.  Here it is as it currently stands.

OK.  I decided on purple.  Too cheap to buy purple dye I mixed equal parts of blue and red (see what I learned in elementary school).  I did multiple passes building color.  I think it is a nice hue.  I decided to do this because my son is looking for me to respray a previous build purple so this was good practice.  I am thinking black hardware.  Raw neck.

It is still wet and hard to capture the flake but it really sparkles.

The guitar continues to cause problems.  While conducting a final polish, I had an issue with a polishing bad and actually "polished" away some of the color down to the base nitro.  It is small and on an inconspicuous spot on the horn.  Purple SHARPIE to the rescue!!!  This was is a keeper and not being sold...SO....

Next steps are to install the hardware...some AWESOME FREEBIES FROM PABLOMAN!!!

i am shopping necks for this.  I was thinking either an all Roasted maple, or an all Wenge.  Or This.....I worry it may be too busy with the body....thoughts?

take a look at the body...i sanded thru a bit on the edge... :sad: :sad: :doh: :doh: :doh:

I have decided to put a small accent on the edge where I sanded thru.  Should I go with a super dark purple or black??

you won't.  It is on the side.  I am just asking for opinion on color.  The sand thru was right on the upper horn, on the edge.  I got a little aggressive
