my first post
this are the specs of my new guitar

strat body- canary top on mahagony
neck is Goncalo Alves  with ebony fretboard with no finish - vintage modern
sprezel locking tunners
wilkinson tremolo
EMG pickups - 89/sa/81

the finish is made by the old french polish method
It was really easy to do
I used only SHELLAC with no grain filler
so it has a really natural look and feel

the neck is really great
I never played an unfinished neck before so I didnt know what to expect
but now I am glad I didnt get the maple neck that I was planing to buy for this project.

about the sound

it has a strat sound but with more low end and sustain.
I wired the middle single coil as the neck pickup
so the pickup selector option's are
1 MIDDLE
2 MIDDLE + NECK
3 NECK
4 NECK + BRIGE
5 BRIDGE
this way I can have the two hums working together... love that sound, or use the neck coil split and get a single coil+hum sound.
but I need more time to experiment, I only heard it through a line6 pod I have at home.
cant wait to plug it in to my real amp at the studio.

Welcome to the boards!

Nice choice on the french polish with unfinished neck combo. :icon_thumright:

welcome to the boards!

sweet axe too! do you have any issues with the wilkinson trem and staying in tune thus far? thanks!

at last i've heard it through my tube amp... loved the clean sounds, really warm.
but I think the EMG's are to dark for this guitar.
I had this set of PU on a fender strat and I didnt like the result, it was to "digital" and not alive as passive PU.
so eventhough they have some advanteges I am thinking of replacing them.
need your suggestions...
I play all kinds of music mostly rock, funk and blues.

I'd suggest any vintage-output PAF style with AlNiCo-2 magnet for the 'buckers.

But that's me.   :icon_biggrin:

what about Jazz neck paired with an SH-4 JB ?
they are bright, right? never used SD before ...
which single coil should I use with this combo ?
I need somthing that can fit In a emg single coil space...

what about vinage rails in the mid...?
with the jazz in neck and a JB at the bridge ?

I have a Strat build with a Seymour Hot Rails bridge, Vintage Rails middle, and Cool Rails neck.  The Vintage Rails sounds good, but the output is a bit lacking relative to the other two.  This is what I would expect with the JB/Jazz combo, as well.

BTW, reason I suggested the vintage output PAF style is cuz of the type of music you mentioned you play:

"I play all kinds of music mostly rock, funk and blues."

Low-output will do far better in versatility as opposed to hotter pickups, cuz you can always *add* more gain to your rig if needed via amp or pedals.

I prefer the mid-low output PU but I read that alcino 2 are dark
thats why I asked about the jazz\JB...
I really want to add some brightness to the sound

what about the middle position?
I would want it to have strat sounds so somthing vintage I guess ..
