My new vintage warmoth strat just arrived!

cool deal! my 2 tone vintage strat body and total vintage q/sawn maple neck/fingerboard should be here tomorrow as well. have fun with it!

:headbang: Nice!!  Isn't it cool how there's just about nothing more exciting than opening a Warmoth box?  Nice choices.  I'm eager to see the work in progress.

I know, right.  It's almost like it requires a moment of silence.  This will make a nice classic strat. :rock-on:

I'm blown away by the quality, I will never buy a fender again after this. The body finish is the best I've ever seen and i totally adore the tinted satin on the neck. I will post more detailed pictures as the work progresses.

Wow, congrats!
What color is that? Light yellow or vintage white?

That's a perfect color for my taste. Did it come out in these pics exactly like in real life?

Its light yellow, indeed the best looking color I've ever seen. it's pretty damn close, as always better in real life then on picture.

So it's a vintage shaped strat with a battery box and wilki rout? Explain, please... Is warmoth offering most of their other custom routes on the vintage bodies too?

The shallers locking-tuners from warmoth wasn't a perfect match, they don't go entirely in, are they a bit thicker closest to the toot, I'm talking about the big part you put in at the back of the neck :) Whats the best way to make the hole a bit larger in the beginning of the hole, because it doesn't seem to be the depth of the hole that is the problem.

This happens sometimes with finished necks; just use a round wood file of appropriate diameter to ream the holes out a little.

This is looking pretty awesome! I haven't seen a good looking light yellow guitar yet so lets see it happen! Are you going with EMGs or something?

I love the color of yellowed olympic white, the number one color on strats! No I will put kinman woodstock plus in this guitar, the battery-box will feed a Graph tech piezo-system!

If you don't have any round wood files then use a pencil tightly wrapped in sandpaper.  Here's a photo example:

I had the same problem with the tuner holes and the pot holes - this worked very well. :icon_thumright:

when that UPS ruck shows up and I get that box, I just kinda like to look at it a while.

Nice choice of colors by the way.

I filed the holes yesterday, they needed quite a bit of work but are perfect now. Next up is drilling the holes to the tuners!

Most around here would tell you the shield around the pickups isn't necessary, and I would have to agree with that.  I do like to shield the control compartment and the output jack.  I usually put a large piece of heat shrink tube around the jack before I mount the jack so nothing can short out to the shield.  I don't even shrink the tube as it has no where to go anyway.  If you have one of those enclosed shielded jacks I wouldn't even worry about it.
