Hi everyone,
My name is Dan and I am new the forums. I just ordered my first Warmoth body, a Mahogany Soloist routed for a Schaller Floyd Rose, 2 Humbuckers and a Contoured Heel. The body is unfinished, but I will be staining it black (or as black as I can get it) and finishing it with tung oil.

The neck itself is already done and was made to my specs but a local luthier. Unfortunately, he became to swamped with work to complete a custom body in anything less than 6 months so I figured I'd give Warmoth a whirl :)
The neck has the proper dimensions for the Soloist neck pocket, so no worries there.

I figured I'd show the neck off and post updates as I complete the project! Let me know what you think!

Its a birds eye maple fretboard and a maple neck.

Interesting headstock  :toothy10: ... I like that !!
Birds eye looks great too.
Can never go wrong with Black.

Yeah ... I tried Warmoth some 8+ builds ago  :toothy12:

  Look what happened to me    :icon_jokercolor:

All you need now is a Custom Dougie Neckplate to finish it off  ......

Thanks Updown :D
The headstock was my own little design

I have a feeling this is going to be the start of a beautiful addiction. No more name brand guitars for me.

I have a neck plate engraved with the same dragon thats on the truss rod cover :D

we all welcome you to unofficial.. beautiful neck!
its going to be interesting seeing this soloist body being pulled together.
i have always thought of mahogany as a very hard wood to stain. good luck man. i have a warmoth strattocaster with a swamp ash body. i finished it with tung oil,  i strongly suggest high gloss tung oil it makes for a butifull guitar! Tung oil is the way to go! Good luck!

Already got the neck plate :P But thanks for the page worth of advertisement, lol. I'll check into it on Warmoth build #2

Thanks Stratman! I heard it is tough to stain, but I know it will be worth it. Whatever it takes. I've always wanted to try a tung oil finish. The neck is tung oil already and I like the feel of it.

Here's an interesting idea. I'd like to RECESS the neck plate... maybe even get one that's a lot thicker to help with mass/vibration. This is something I've seen Origin Guitars do. At the least, it will keep that neck joint a little thinner for all those medley medley licks. Origin also shaves off the point nearest your fretting hand, creating a sort of thumb rest. I was thinking of doing that too. Can anybody comment on the feel of a Soloist at the upper frets? I know there's a rather large variable in the neck design, but tell me anyway, haha.

Actually, I do have a question for Dangerous:
Do you offer neck plates in different materials/thicknesses?

I do have some aluminum ones, they are 1/8" thick. I have also made some titanium ones too.. They were 3/32" thick.
