My first Warmoth build.
Specs:

Body: Swamp ash (showcase body), chambered
Neck: from a strat copy, maple/rosewood, going to replace this with a warmoth neck at some point
Bridge: Wilkinson VS-100
Pickups: Lundgren P-90's (http://lundgren.se), hand-wound pickups
Wiring: 5-way (neck, both in series, both in parallel, both in parallel out of phase, bridge), 1 volume, 1 diy no-load tone

There is only one coat of danish oil now. I'm waiting for some better weather to put more coats (as many as I have the patience for). I was going to fill the grain by sanding while wet from oil, but I couldn't get the paste to form well enough and the grain looked actually pretty great unfilled. Could I do the grain filling (with the dust + oil mix) next time (if I get proper sanding paper)?

While planning I thought the black pickup covers would look great, but now I'm not so sure (maybe the hardware should be black also). I would actually like them to be matte. Would some steel wool work for that?

The neck is something I had laying around. It is pretty good, but the nut is crap. I was thinking of getting a neck from Warmoth as soon as I have money. I was thinking of ebony fretboard (as black as I can get), canary or maple neck.

Anyways I think it looks great even now and sounds great.

Very nice strat!! I like the black p90s and chrome hw actually!

yes get a nice Canary neck or maybe even an all RW or Wenge for some nice contrast!!!

Also, it really looks like your neck is not properly aligned! or is it just the pics?

Thanks! It is a I planned and I like it, but somehow the pickup covers are too shiny plastic. But I'll get used to it. :)

It is actually bit crooked (really little, like you can feel it is not aligned with the neck pocket). I noticed it also when taking pictures. The picture makes it look a lot worse than it is (in the top picture it looks like the high e is almost off the fretboard, in reality it not even close the edge). I think the previous owner of the neck has drilled the holes wrong. I should fill them and redrill, but this neck has been mainly for testing out ideas.

Ya got a good start going on there.  I love your body and the P-90's.
The black P90's look fine with the chrome, but all black hardware would rock with that build as well.
Yea, get a W neck on there when ya can...

Well, I just ordered a showcase neck from Warmoth. It is canary and has a ebony fingerboard. The ebony isn't totally black but has couple of streaks on it, but I think it might fit the overall idea of the guitar. Headstock is Warmoth-shaped, because I have never liked the stratocaster headstock shape that much and this isn't a traditional strat at all.

Also a proper nut (graphtech) and locking tuners are on their way. When all of this stuff arrives, I can get my dream guitar. :)

Any ideas for the neck finish? Would the Danish Oil work there also or should I just leave it unfinished as they say on the Warmoth pages?

Do NOT put any finish on that Canary neck.  You want to leave it beautifully naked and feeling like butta'
Canary necks, along with many of the exotic wood necks do not require a finish.
Leave it alone and you will love it; guaranteed...
