More SS frets in showcase

I just did a search for in stock necks with 6105 SS frets and there are 7 of them.  Of necks with nickel 6105 frets, there are over 150 in the showcase.  Doesn't it seem like this should be the other way around?  The impression I get from the forum is that the vast majority of players prefer SS frets.

I don't know why Warmoth pre-frets Showcase necks at all. Fret size is such a personal choice, that all pre-fretting does is keep potential buyers looking elsewhere when they might otherwise be perfectly happy with the Showcase model. I know I've passed on several that would have been perfect except for Warmoth's fret choice.

I guess they don't want to fret them after they're finished - all their finished necks are fretted (yes, apart from fretless ones); most of their unfinished necks are not.

That's just here. Out in the world, many players are skeptical of them. With no one to tell them differently, they're going to go with the status quo. It's the same with raw necks. Most people who get to play my guitars are shocked to learn the necks are unfinished. Most of them aren't even aware they're unfinished - they're just impressed with how good they feel, then make comments about getting a satin-finished neck on their next guitar. When I tell them there's no finish on it, I'm usually met with disbelief.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

The last thing you want to do after spending time and money finishing a neck is to start filing and sanding on it. We fret the necks we intend to finish, and leave the rest unfretted.

There are generally enough unfretted necks in the showcase to find one with the specs you like, save the frets and finish. Then you can have it fretted and finished with your preferences.
