More BodyBuilder fun

I'm sort of addicted to the BodyBuilder. Here are some yummy BB builds I'd sure like to order the parts for and build real guitars out of. Remember (disclaimer): the BodyBuilder alone won't do this, you need some other image editing tools too (like Photoshop).

I like that Soloist, although I'd shy away from the teeny-bopper neck and lose one or two tone controls. Maybe use a toggle vs. blade switch. I guess it doesn't work for me after all.

Their very presence in the circuit eats some of the tone worm's lunch, which is why they make "no load" pots. Losing the tone control isn't for everybody, but there are a generous mittenful of players who never touch it and so lose some clarity, money and uncluttered design by having it there in the first place.

Good point. I just about never use tone controls. One of my guitars (a Hamer T-62) doesn't even have any - just a single volume knob. And I don't miss it. That guitar sounds great, BTW.

So Cagey, since you know this stuff: is a .047uf capacitor more of a tone sucker than a .022uf? I ordered one of each for my current build, and might be able to still decide which one to tell the tech to use.

I think they're too much, but it's a subjective thing. A .047 on a guitar will roll off more than just the high end, it'll start eating into your midrange as well, and almost acts like a volume trim in the process since it's bleeding away so much signal. .022 is as large as I go.

Just FTR - that's not a teeny bopper neck. Maybe it was popular when we were teens, but most people that grew up on that stuff are in their 40's now.

There are a number of variables in this equation, the type of pickup, the size of the pots and the number of pots coupled with the size of cap.
