Minus the French liqueur

I'm hoping this innocuous beginning will end up an interesting build...It is inspired by one of my favorite guitarists and his very idiosyncratic guitar.  For some reason I am given to strange mental associations and this musician always reminds me of a famous fantasy icon known for (among other things) his peculiar yodel.

I can't imagine playing a direct replica of this artists strat, so I am doing a sort of mash-up of these two larger-than-life characters and hoping to come out with a beautiful and somewhat unique stratocaster of my own.  I will be doing some routing on one of the pickups to orient this right.

Can you solve Blue's clues? 

p.s. No guesses from Tonar because I asked for some advice in the planning stages.

Pewter body finished by Warmoth...very beautiful finish, of course I prefer nitrocellulose, but sourcing the color and weighing the likely disastrous outcome of attempting to finish it myself...nice thin finish though, wonder how much difference it really makes tonally???  Sorry about the pic size, I resized it on photobucket to no avail.

Well, the only Strat model I can immediately think of that comes in pewter is the Clapton model, but he hardly yodels, and uses standard size single coils (Lace Sensors, right?).

Since you said it's not a direct replica I cheated and Googled based on the thread title.  MUCH better color choice.

The other swingin' cat I mentioned is totally fictitious and has a kink for fur.

Oh and about this gorgeous body....

This body was found on the showcase and was just what I was looking for...lightweight alder at 3lbs 10 oz...It took me two months to narrow it down, but I'm hoping that Pewter is the right color for the appointments I've got in mind...It's pretty much gonna be drop dead or epic fail...I've definitely never seen anything like it before though.

Pewter is my favorite of the metallic finishes. Just don't put a black pickguard on it, please. Looking forward to seeing this build progress.

It won't be black, but there's a good chance you'll hate it all the same...as a matter of fact, the entire guitar was designed around an unusual pickguard...one that I'm anxiously waiting for. :blob7:

Yodeling and double Ds makes me think of Jewel.

I've seen a Pewter Clapton Strat with black pickguard with the white covers and controls.  Very Striking.

Jewel tribute strat: definitely would be hollow....one pea rattling around inside...blonde on top/natural bottom...I'd string her up with only a g-string and would love to see that f-hole.  :icon_tongue:

Pewter is probably my favorite metallic also. It's on the menu though I'm not sure for what just yet. Maybe a bass.
