Alright i need some help.
I am planning on building a telecaster. Alder body, maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard.
I am planning on doing a Sd Jazz in the neck and a Sd Jb in the bridge. I was thinking about placing a single coil in the middle to add some versatility.
Suggestions?
I like playing mostly blues, classic rock, jazz, not really into heavy heavy metal.
Some influences. John Mayer, BB king, SRV, Roy Buchanan.
Also i was planning on splitting the pickups

Ive got a SD Stag Mag in the middle..great pickup. you could also go for one of thos Dimarzio Area singles or a twinblade sigle like the GFS Lil Killer

Those Area Pickups sound so good after I add one to the middle of my tele I might make a strat with just those pickups they sound amazing.

+3. '58 is a bit cleaner and brighter, '61 a bit heavier and more drive-y but still very vintage.

Quick question which area pickup would give me more of a tele tone?
should I go with one of the strat models regardless or possibly place one of the area neck tele pickups in the middle?
I personally dont want to make a tele that doesnt have some tele sound to it since i already am using two humbuckers

The "tele sound" would be the tele bridge pickup, IMO. Without the tele bridge, or something like a p90, I'm not sure if you can really get it. I would go with a strat pup in the middle, and also give yourself coil-splits on the neck and bridge pups. With the neck and bridge split, you may get something like the tele sound.

IF you want to make a tele that sounds like a tele, you should use a tele bridge pickup. Teles don't have middle pickups, and they don't have strat pickups, and they don't have bridge humbuckers.
If you want to make a HSH in a tele body, that's very cool, but it won't sound anything like a tele.

Yea im new to this i just really want a versatile guitar for now so i was recommended p rails in the neck and bridge with some complex wiring to get every possibly combination out it for now

You may be surprised how much flexibility you can have in a tele bridge/humbucker neck config  :icon_thumright:
