Yuh. I want bad. 2 reallll nice 25 watt amps that just came out for the same price. The Mesa seems like the better deal, but I tried an archon recently and it's ear sex. Been a while since I played a mesa, but I'm sure the mark is also delightful.

This has me rethinking the axe fx. I know the mesa would hold value better, the archon probably would hold well, and I love the sounds of both... Also like that I would be able to play either, amplified, without purchasing a power amp of any sort. And both are perfect for my live gigs - The archon is a combo, and the mesa comes with built in cab clones.

Thoughts on which you prefer, or steer me back towards the axe? I'm thinking maybe the mesa, although the archon I played through was amazing. So much confliction... Ha!

Well, I would definitely steer you to the AXE, but I would want to hear more about the tones you are looking for, how you record, what your live gigs are like, etc.

When I was analog, I needed at least 3 amps to cover the basic tones that I need.

Only main live gig right now is a church gig, and I've got most bases covered with the ipad for that one. I will have more coming up soon though.

I play a lot of prog and metal, but really only keep a small number of sounds available, and use pedals - But I do a lot of recording.

With that info, I would definitely reconsider an AXE.

My live gigs are largely churches. The amp, cabs, delay, synth sims are great for what you hear in CCM. For my main CCM patch I use a blend of a Morgam 20 and a Ruby Rocket. The ability to load in and out quickly is a major plus.

Recording is a natural for the AXE as well.

Also with you having an interest in Prog and Metal (quite a different tone than CCM), you would have those covered as well. Myself I am interested in blues, classic rock and hair rock as well. Having the AXE means not having to have multiple amp/cabs.

If you do consider going AXE, do not consider using a guitar cab. Use a self powered PA cab (FRFR). Myself since I went AXE quite a bit ago, am using QSC HPR 112i's. And no you do not need 2, just one. I got 2 so I could have one in my music room and another for the live gigs.

PM me if you would like to talk more.
