still needs the final coats of poly but that cant happen until it warms up

my first build! body wasn't Warmoth but I have learned my lesson

specs (for anyone who hasn't seen it on the boards already)

Neck - Vintage Modern CBS Strat, Standard Thin, Canary/Ebony, Mother of Pearl dots, 1 11/16 Black TUSQ XL nut, SS 6100 frets, 10-16 compound radius, Schaller locking tuners

Body - Basswood Strat with custom art by yours truly

White Pearl Pickguard with Dimarzio Pickups BC-1 Neck, Cruiser, BC-2 Bridge. Went overboard with the wiring, i moved the middle tone to the bridge pickup, and installed 3 Push Pulls, one each for Series/Parelle in Neck and Bridge, and a switch for the Bridge so that I can have the Neck/Bridge or all three on option.

I disagree with those who said that Basswood had no tone, the Billy Corgan pickups are pretty killer in this guitar

I like it.  The melting glaciers are nice.  I kinda wish the pickup covers were light blue, but that might be too gaudy.

I think the black works well with the ebony fingerboard and black knobs w/pearl tops, helps tie the whole piece together. I wanted all three pickups to be black but when i ordered online it was either get them all at the same time in 2 different colors or wait for the Cruiser to be back in stock in black. At some point I ll get my hands on a black cover and swap them out.

I took Mendy to the guitar shop today, ive been talking to the luthier there about my build and my experience with Warmoth and the story behind getting it together. We plugged it into a Bugera amp and ran her through the gauntlet. I was pretty amazed, this guitar had great sustain and tons of tone ranging from clean and jazzy to big and beefy. He fell in love with the stainless steel frets and warmoth standard thin contour. He also commended me on setting it up, the only thing he suggested was taking a little bit of bow out of the neck and dropping the strings down just a hair more, but he thought it felt and played fantastically.

new shots of Mendy, no pool shots but I did the next best thing, backdrops of the environment that inspired the artwork :)

My guitar is being featured in the local monthly Arts and Culture insert, with this shot being the cover! I scored a 60 dollar commission just for the use of the photo, and the guitar is being featured in an art show this weekend! :)

Very well done and congrats on the media coverage.  :headbang:
