Nice axe!   :glasses10:  I like the pick guard on that finish.

I do too TJ..it's gold paint on the back of clear plexiglass and I wish Warmoth would offer clear pickguards, it would open up so many possibilities......(small hint to W   )

lovely neck, GREAT finish, too bad I hate ash :p I'd taken a maple top on korina, but still; nice one! how does she sound? How does the pau ferro feel like?

Hey Willy....that guitar reminds me of toffee or caramel....the colour is soooo deep and rich. Nice work.

Yum Yum

Why do you hate ash  :icon_scratch: It can be a pain to fill but I like the way you can accentuate the grain to get interesting finishes. I'm glad I chose to get a one piece body for this one. Sound-wise it's just what I wanted, a ballsy strat sound, well defined but still warmish. I really like the RG dual calibrated set. I used them on a korina strat ( you would like that one Orpheo  :icon_jokercolor: ) and I was very impressed with the way the three combine to give 5 distinct voices. Wiring the second tone control to the bridge pickup is something I would recommend also. It adds a lot of extra options. The pau ferro neck is a revelation. Apart from maple I've also got necks made from padauk, canary, rosewood and bubinga. This one feels better than all of them and is my new favorite. It's a boat and probably has more influence on the overall sound of the guitar than anything. Some people reckon it's too heavy for balance but it feels fine on a fairly light bodied guitar. The pau ferro is smoother than the bubinga which, with the boat back, makes it less of a handfull.

I am sure he would...... if by writing RG you meant BK, and by strat, you really meant lp... :icon_biggrin:

this makes me wanna have pau ferro even more!

well, I dont like ash because

1: its sound is dull (imho)
2: the looks are even more dull

I wouldn't mind 'having' this axe, but I wouldn't make it myself. I'd have, at least, humbuckers, or prails, because I dont like singlecoils (on their own!).

Great Build, WillyK!  I asked you on Flickr what the pickups were...I guess I should have looked here first!  haha

I know this thread is a million years old but line6man just revived it by citing it as an example of rustic finishes ... all I can say is: Thank you, Joe, for citing this; that guitar is freakin' beautiful ... AND IT'S A LEFTY! I almost never get to see guitar porn for my dexterity. This is a special treat.

Gorgeous. Kudos to the builder. One of the best finishes I've ever seen on one of the nicest looking axes ever spied.
