Meanwhile, at Warmoth...Brazilian Ebony! (Plus, another giveaway!)

I like the looks of the the examples in the showcase. Is it going to be available on tiltback necks?

Hmmm... Wish I'd have known these were coming. I just received my first African Ebony/Ebony neck. Could've gotten two of these for what that one cost. But, mine's nice, too, and now I have something else to look forward to.

Just order two of them now in lieu of the next African Ebony one you were going to get. :icon_thumright:

Here's some info I found on it.

Brazilian Ebony Overview
LATIN: SWARTZIA TOMENTOSA  ORIGIN: BRAZIL, VENEZUELA, COLUMBIA AND PARTS OF THE AMAZON.

Brazilian Ebony, Swartzia tomentosa, is a hard and heavy wood with a straight grain. It gets the name ebony for its (nearly) black color, but a distinct grain pattern is still easily seen with the naked eye. It has a bright and vivid color depth when first cut but after oxidation takes on a darker less bold appearance.

Seems to be a wood used also for floors. But so is maple.

As well as Ipe, Walnut, etc... after a while it looks like flooring might be a good indicator that this might be a good neck wood.

Aaron, could you compare a standard maple neck to this one - playing each on the same guitar? It's only 4 screws.  :icon_thumright:

Sounds easy, but doing those in-depth comparisons would take WAY more time and manpower than the quickie-style videos we do now. You have get a tech involved, have multiple shoots, etc. Most people would be surprised at how small our marketing department is, and how many things we handle on any given day.

That said, if these videos prove to be effective in selling bodies and necks, maybe we will end up getting the nod to do more in-depth videos. So....if you want more in-depth videos, you know what to do! :)

I 2nd this question

I see no reason why they won't happen eventually. It's a new wood, so we are starting with our biggest sellers first. As time goes on you'll see it showing up on lots of other neck styles, I imagine.

FYI, we sold a surprising number of these necks on the first day, which is very encouraging.

Thanks. I was curious as I know you have some woods (IE: Pao Ferro) that you can't do a tilt back on due to glue adhesion on the scarf joint.
