I finally got the reverse CBS headstock neck for the guitar named Max.  Sorry Max not for you; its just named in honor of you.  :hello2: I was going to do this in a burgundy mist  but there is just something about a white Strat with a maple neck that is classic.  Maybe it’s Woodstock!

Oh say can you see?

That's pretty sweet there Tonar....... :headbang:

It does have that Woodstock aura about it..... :guitarplayer2:

That's really cool. I've been thinking about an upside-down Strat like this for a long time, and was wondering if anyone had done it. If it were my build, I would've had the headstock oriented the traditional way, just to keep people scrathcing their heads, but this is really sweet!  :icon_thumright:

I think they will still scratch their heads cause if you flip the whole guitar over (lefty) it is still wrong!!! very cool build

The only problem---if you're going for "that Jimmy tone"---is that the bridge pickup is slanted the wrong way.

Oh, but it is hot.

Very classy looking axe!  :headbang: I do love the white strat look!
I have never been a huge fan of the reverse headstock, but I am really diggin' this one.
Maybe it's because I don't see many reverse with the CBS headstock.
Anyway, very cooooool  :hello2:
:kewlpics: :rock-on:

I like the mint PG.
The pickguard is actually parchment.  I thought it was going to be single ply but it showed up like this and I really like it.  It was my mistake assuming that the parchment was single ply.  I did not like the 3 ply white guard I bought originally for the guitar this looks way better.

You’re correct; but since this was a showcase body it was already routed this way. You can have them routed with the pickup routs for a lefty.  Now you talk about confusing.  If you really wanted to go all out you could have a left hand trem put on it too.

Hi fellas - been checking this site out for a while now (time spent on reconnaissance is seldom wasted, you see) but the guitars above has prompted me to sign up! Have had a strat similar to the above in my mind for quite some time now, and found a thumbnail pic on the warmoth site, but no other information.... is it commercially available through warmoth?

All the best from Darkest Eastern Europe,

Matt

Hello Matt, welcome to the forum!!
You can buy a body and neck like this from the Showcase.  The neck wood may not be as high of grade or you might get lucky and find an amazing piece in the Showcase.  I ordered this body from the Showcase and the neck custom ordered.  I have very specific tastes in neck profiles and wood quality so I was not having any luck getting what I wanted on the Showcase.  Spend time shopping the showcase and see what you can find, if you can’t find it call Warmoth and they will walk you through ordering the parts.

Here is a list of what will be going into this guitar.
1. Lightweight unfinished left-hand Alder Strat with reverse orientation. I lacquer finished it
2. 1-piece left-handed Birdseye Maple CBS Strat reverse orientation neck.  This one is a vintage modern with a 59 Roundback profile, 6100 frets and Kluson tuners.
3. Pickguard is a Parchment from Warmoth,
4. Pickups are special order Fralins from Callaham.  They are the EJ/Hendrix/SRV set.
5. Miscellaneous hardware and plastic will all come from Callaham.
6. The trem block will come from DeTemple.
7. Reproduction Kluson Tuners will come from W.D. Music Products.
8. I use one 280K super pot for the volume and 250K CTS pots from RS Guitarworks.
9. I will be using a NOS 1963 ceramic disc capacitor on this guitar but I would suggest RS Guitarworks for capacitors.  I like the LUX reproduction ones.

You can certainly use other sources for your parts these are just what I have settled on for my own personal builds from experience.

Good luck!
Greg

A friend of mine bought a left handed strat and flipped it righty. The balance was a bit off and you couldn't reach the high frets but he didn't care. I couldn't play it but it sure looked classic. I like this build alot since it uses an actual right handed reverse neck instead of the left neck where you won't see the side dots. That makes a huge difference at least for me. The huge headstock makes it cool too.

I am just a simple guitar player. In my time strats were played correctly, or perhaps flipped lefty and strung in reverse.

These new guitars, with the reverse pickguards and odd orientations, frighten and confuse me

Change is bad.

Yes, change is bad!
Go stand in the corner for a few hours...

I wouldn't be as confused if everything on the pickguard way the other way around (aka the RIGHT way).

I have to look at it a few times before I realise whats going on there!  :laughing7:
