maple and mahogany

guys, any idea if mahogany will be heavier than maple?

i wanted a maple/ebony neck - but the showcase only has a mahogany/ebony neck.

will the latter be heavier?

and any idea how well a mahogany neck will mate with a swamp ash body?

What body style/sound are you planning/trying to get.

As CB noted, on average a maple neck is going to be a bit lighter than maple, where are you trying to go with the build?

i already have a swamp ash jazzmaster body with p90s.

Per the website, you can get the neck finished with a black peghead for $145 of the back of the neck is a different finish, or $125 if you do it all black.

I'm assuming the body is already black; in my mind's eye I'd go all black and save the $20 bucks, especially if the ebony board is jet black, that should look wicked

if not black, what kinda natural finish would do - is mahogany finished in natural normally?

You can have Warmoth finish the mahogany neck any way you want to pay for. The obvious choices would be to either go all black or just a black peghead and finish the rest of the mahogany clear gloss. If you wanted something different than that you'd need to call/email Warmoth as another different color isn't on the matrix.

Have you put a neck on the Swamp Ash body with P90s already?

yea i have a warmoth maple/braz rosewood neck already on it.

but the neck is quite skinny compared to my warmoth strat neck (though they have the same specs). i would like a similar feel.
