Wanted to do another ''Full-body-burn'' with no shortcuts or easy way out, and for whatever reason, a sea turtle kept coming to mind, so...
I'm using basswood because of its lack of grain pattern, it's soft, so it burns easily, and, since this guitar is to be a dedicated slide instrument, and I'm gonna be using Ken's new Valco/Supro Roadhouse pickups, I did NOT want to use a 'premium' tonewood, since I'm shooting for a funkier, greasier, 50's & 60's tonality......

Thanks, Doug; and it's just the beginning...and BTW, it's getting a 59 Roundback for a bit of beef...

Can't wait to see the rest of it. I'm hoping for an "Alien vs. Predator" thing. Predator has neon green blood, and you know how much you like colors...

Actually, I may not do colors at all...just the burn, and a dye or stain overall, but that decision is a ways away.

Oh lovin it .. and my 2 cents ...I'd say keep it natural so it retains the tribal vibe .  May be a bit of light whisky amber ...

That's the direction I'm leaning...

Why thank you, Doug; an obscure factual tidbit that I never would have known were it not for your effusive magnanimity! I believe I sense a custom neckplate in this project's future... :toothy11:

It's a Razer-tip 88-10; it'a 2 pen unit...

I looked into em a bit. Looks like a real nice unit. Looks like you have a control board and then like you said there is one you can plug two pens into. So is the 88 and 10 the tip size? Like you have a fine tip and a shader? It looks like there are quite a few tips to choose from. I am interested, I love to paint and it would be fun to paint on wood. Also what wood to you find easy to work with... ash, alder, poplar?
