I went to a local shop and randomly decided to play a 1960s Bruno Conqueror about 6 weeks ago. It's beat up and one of the pickups doesn't work, but when I plugged that baby in, it was LOVE I tell you! LOVE!
The guy at the shop told me that someone brought it in to the store to have it repaired and never paid or came back to get it, so it had been sitting around for 4 or 5 years before they put it up for sale. They also said people always look at it but are "afraid to touch it". It has really nice action on it, plays like a dream, and it sounds like nasty growly blues-rock gold.
Time went by, and here I am over a month later still thinking about that guitar, which in my opinion is a sign. No money right now, but when I have a few hundred, I'm buying it. Looks like this, but it's more beat up compared to the one in the picture:
