New 'POD' seems to be out. What are the thoughts and opinions on this ?

http://line6.com/podhd/

Early thoughts I know, but I might be in the market for a new gizmo, cant afford a Fractal Audio Axe-FX (damnit) but would this perhaps be closer to that than a PodX3 for example ?)
Not looking for trash talk (i.e. shove that and get real t00bs) , just a viewpoint in the context of comparing other modellers etc.

looks promising. they'll have software updates for it to add new models and such.

you could buy an extra one of these for a backup and still not spend as much as that ax thing. and it's got the pedal board built in. I really like my podxt. this thing should be just as good or better.

What kinda speaker would you plug this into to get sound? If you plug it into an amp, does that amp screw up the amp modeling?

Like any POD device really, designed to be run to a PA or through a power amp. You can usually bypass the amp modelling etc but that kinda defeats the object of having it.
That said, it also includes something called L6 Link to use it through their DT50 amp , but I've no idea how that works in practice.

As I've mentioned it (and the HD500 is a little dry), anyone have any thoughts on the DT50 ?

I'm pretty sure the combination of the two WILL change the way a lot of people play guitar. 100% analog tube modeling that actually changes the feedback loop and class operation is gonna be really cool. Much cooler is the way you can have the whole thing connected with one XLR.

I already do the same type of thing. My rig goes Guitar -> RP1000 pre effects -> Amp Preamp/RP1000 Preamp (I can switch my own preamp just like a modeled amp) -> RP1000 post effects -> my amp's poweramp and speaker.

I get the vibe the HD500's gonna do the same thing only all through one cable instead of the three that I use. Should be really really cool because I've gotten the best tones out of my RP1000. Sure, it's digital but it's still got the T00bs cookin'.
