I've Been reading the recent Gibson-bashing thread, with which I must say I'm in complete agreement, but at the same time, there's no doubt they've made some great stuff--even in the not-too-distant past, so I thought I'd throw in a shot of
some Les Pauls I've had the good fortune to play. The most recent is from 2004 (the honey-burst Stndrd), the other 'burst is from '86, the Special is an original '59, and the Custom and the '54 Goldtop are both Historics from the mid-2000s. The newer ones were chosen after playing many others, as Gibson's consistency has gotten increasingly poor in the last decade. These have
all been great playing and sounding, without a single glitch in the bunch. I generally will retrofit
with '57 Classic or Duncan Antiquity p-ups....
