Hi!
Currently drafting out some ideas for a project guitar. Not everything is set in stone at this point, but I've narrowed a lot down.
I play a variety of music, with a lot of blues and metal thrown in.
A few things like pickups/wiring, I haven't really decided on. Same kind of goes for finish. I'm thinking kind of about Black Dye, but not 100% sure.

Body:
Left-handed VIP, Chambered mahogany body with flame maple top and recessed controls.
Recessed Wilkinson Tremelo Rout

Neck:
Left-handed Warmoth Conversion/Angled 24.75" Scale. Wenge with Ebony fretboard.
1 11/16" Nut width, Standard Thin Contour, 10-16" Compound Radius, SS6115 Frets, Black Graphtech TUSQ XL Nut.

Pickups:
Not 100% Sure here. Thinking about doing a SD '59 in the neck, w/ a JB in the bridge. I currently have this setup on my Les Paul and like it a lot... but something new could be fun as well.
I kind of want to play around with coil-tapping for some different sound options.

Tuners:
Planet Waves Auto Trim Tuners / Locking Tuners

Bridge:
Gotoh Wilkinson Tremolo VS100, Left Hand, Black

Going to give the Wilkinson a shot. I kind of want to trying playing around with a tremolo again, but don't really want to go for a floyd rose (kinda thinking that would be fun on a soloist though.)

Any and all opinions would be helpful!

If you're not sure on the wilkinson, you should get a tremol-no in case you don't use that much... I would try a cheap guitar instead of go to the custom, to see if you'll like, because if you don't it's easy to pass it away...

yea i had a ESP MH series guitar with a floating floyd. i thought i'd use that but i used it maybe once for a song, it just causes problems and im waaaay too lazy to maintain a tremolo plus a fixed bridge is pretty forgiving as far as changing your tunings up. not to mention intonation changes are easy.

Thanks for the solid input!
I'm definitely going to check out the tremol-no. I have a little tremolo experience, but never got too crazy with it.
I was thinking about getting a Floyd, but I think that might just be a bit over the top for this guitar.. saving it for the Soloist build that'll come later.

I'm starting to think a bit more on the finish. I found one I kind of like on a PRS, but not sure if the black dye from warmoth would be comparable, or perhaps washed black dye?
I'm still leaning more towards flame maple than quilted. Maybe thicker flames though?
(sorry about the big photo)

Well...yeah...that'd be sweet!

It looks as if that particular piece has both "quilty flame"
I've seen some great flame tops in the showcase, some with wider grain than others.
They also do this thing called "unique choice" that you may want to look into, which lets you pick the piece they use.

Looks Like I found the answer in the showcase!

Although I really like the following two as well:

Man, if I were only right handed.

I think finish is the last thing I've gotta figure out before I can order the Body / Neck.
Then it'll be time to go nuts over electronics!
