Neck done as it can get, without stringing it up.  Gotta do the final on the nut slots.  Gotta place the string guide.  Gotta round the nut a little.

Body got its first clear today.  More as it comes.... pics as I can get 'em taken.

Looks great.  Metallic finishes are murder to shoot.

Thanks!~  And like you say... murder.  Its not the coverage, not the thickness, but getting the sparkle to all lay the same way.  You cant angle things one way, then change the angle or even the direction of the pattern (ie top to bottom vs side to side), because it will lay the sparkle down slightly different.  One thing I learned - is the last coat is the one that counts.  Let the color density build keeping things pretty even as you can, but be really particular on that last coat so the sparkle lays down "just so".

I have a protective coat on the front now, so.... from here on out its clear to build thickness, then level and buff.  Until today, air was dry.  We're getting dry but COLD (30's is cold for most folks and down right SEVERE here in Fl).  So no lacquer till it gets up to about 70ish or so.  I'm not sure we'll break 70F till Wednesday or so.

To me, its an homage, to Leo, and the great men and women of the Fender Musical Instrument Company.  Its a point of cosmetic completion.  And its a traditional emblem, in the traditional place.

Under no circumstances would I try and pass the guitar off as "actually made by Fender", and neither would it pass any but the most casual inspections.

You can build up a Ford Tbucket

like this one, that has large FORD logos in various places, although there are probably zero Ford parts in it.

Or you can build up a Harley

like that one, that has a few Harley parts (I think the front rim is still original!), but the motor, transmission, etc... all made aftermarket for customization.  It still says "Harley Davidson" on the logos.

Why do folks do that?  Probably for the same reason I do... or at least thats my take.

Sweet Tele there CB, .......Fender certainly shouldn't feel offended, their getting free advertisement on a world class Ax!!! ....Nice! :icon_thumright:

Big Bob wasn't passing judgement.  Like he said in his post, "just curious."  There are quite a few members that do have problems with Fender logos on Warmoths.  I don't.  If I did, I would not have a Fender headstock.

Yah I know he wasn't!~  And lots do.  I just had the pictures handy....

=CB=, hitting the sauce, again

I meant no offense to Big Bob...but wanted to lay out how I feel.  To each his own, Warmoth, Fender, customer or no sticker... its a matter of personal feeling and taste.

Speakin' of taste... I bought $40 worth of that stuff in the picture... cant wait to try it out.

nah, this one is goin out the door as soon as its finished, no Esquire, sorry

I finished the last of the body lacquer tonite - unless there are problems, it should be ready to level on... er... new years eve?  If the weather holds out.  I'm gonna move the body to a warmer place in hopes that it can set up a bit, in some faster manner.

All the parts came in today - so thats a plus.

BTW, if anyone is interested in those 62 tele bridges by Fender, and are wondering... its the same plate as the vintage 52, but with straight FENDER no "Pat Pend" at an angle.  Other than that, the plate is 100 percent identical.  The three saddles are steel, chrome plated with grooves.  I'm not sure if thats period correct, but they're good saddles.  Those bridges are going for about $17 or so online.  What a deal!~

Things are dry - not enough to level, but enough to do some placement of parts next to each other.
Thought y'all might enjoy.

Brother, coming from "the master" (that be you) I take that very personally.  Thanks!~
