"Lacerda wanted Total Coverage."

can I ask a question?

will it wear flat as it rubs against you?

ok, I like it, shows uniqueness and probably has a few drawbacks but then it is your idea and you are carrying it to fruition
but Iwonder if the finish will ever be finished as it looks like stuff will knock off easy.

JUst my 2 cents

Looks great by the way..

I have done the back of a guitar with this stuff a few years ago. Then I primed it, painted it, and sealed it with matte lacquer. I didn't play that guitar heavily, but the finish showed no sign of wear.

That stuff, whatever it is, dries really hard, and paints well. I may use it on some other builds, just because it is, relatively, convenient and easy.

The shape is surprisingly ergonomic, though its also grossly evocative of the 80s.

Not as evocative as the paint will be, though...

Wow - this will be different. It sort of reminds me of an idea I had years ago but never finished. I used to work in a shop for EAW speakers, which have the bumpy black textured finish like many guitar amps. I wanted to have one of my guitars painted with the texture so it would match my amp. So I brought it to my friend in the paint booth but in the end we both thought it would be better with just flat black and no texture. I still like the idea but decided not to do it at the time.

Is your other finished guitar similar to that amp/speaker texture? And what color will Lacerda be? If she's going to be black, you could do the matching amp concept, or you could paint a small amp to match whatever color the guitar will be.  :dontknow:

Blame it on the strap...

Because, to quote John Cougar  in the 80s MTV contest where you won a house and then applied a specific color,

"We're gonna paint the mother pink..."

The camera doesn't really capture just how atomically fluorescent it really is.

It's pink all over.

A little late in the overall process, I added ears for the cavity covers.

First mockup; note 'zebra set screw' pickups...

The pickups are just put in place, hence the gaps.

I realize this is not where a lot of people would go with this, but I figured I may as well go whole hog, and pigs are, after all, pink.

Not fully mixed powder strawberry milkshake anyone? :laughing7:
Interesting idea, and just made me want milkshake, but i have no milk

Finally I finished it!

It's been a while since it was put together, but life got in the way of guitars for a few months, as it often does.

So here is the finished guitar. It plays pretty well, and I do like the sound of the PAF Pro and PAF Joe (though I can't remember which is which).

It came out heavier than I expected, but at least it doesn't neck dive!

Just had to go and put my sun glasses on  :icon_biggrin: (& it's night time here) to view this. Oh man thats bright  :o
I hadn't seen this build earlier, so i just went back thought this thread.
Thats some pretty handy work you have done there, I must say.

The finish reminds me of spayed on cement, they do on walls etc.
Or that old antique paint used on ceiling's. ie: sand in the paint.

You might just get a gig, as the guitarist in 'Pink's Band' with that  :icon_jokercolor:

Now thats what I call a Custom Build  :icon_thumright:

DAMN MY EYES... I am going to charge for a trip to the eye doctor  :laughing3:

The headstock came out thin on purpose. I wanted to use a 'Fathead' type brass plate. I think it makes a difference, but this build is so weird its hard to tell!
