Kinda aggravated

Warmoth has shown that they'll take back products that are lacking in basic quality, and seeing as yours wasn't an obvious flaw until it's assembled, I still think an email to Rob might be your best bet. Past that, a shim is the way to go, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Thanks Max. I'm willing to bet its about the setup, but I'm just a lil nervous, as I've never run into this before lol.

As Max said
contact Warmoth
I know you are asking about fit, and that is a good question. but you keep briging up the small flaw you found after you started the build.
Anyway, I find sugar with the vendor sure beats publishing problems

that was my point, I was not trying to anything negative
I only wanted to point out that the first step is always to contact the vendor andmake him aware.

Here are the things that will give you those symptoms:

Bridge too high
Far end of heel not seated
wrong angle (fixed with correct angle or a shim)

Your bridge is all the way down, your heel seems well-seated.

I appreciate it, justatele and max. I'll just drop them a note and keep them in the loop.

That's such a well-spec'd and nice-looking guitar it's a shame it didn't go together quite right straight away.  I certainly feel your pain; I've been in similar situations myself.  All excited to get it put together and then something craps out and delays progress for a while.  Sucks.

Since the bridge is all the way down, the problem must be at the other end, unless the bridge is tilted upwards somehow, which I'm going to assume it isn't.  How low can you get the action with the truss rod tightened?  You said the nut has a high action, too, so perhaps this could be resolved by adjusting the neck and nut.  Really hard to say without it in front of me, though.  It could well be some glitch in engineering, but it's good to check the obvious first.

Hey MSP. The nut, saddles, and neck have yet to be adjusted, so I'm certain that is contributing to some of that I'm seeing.  Thank for your kind words!

No prob.

Any chance you could give us a photo of the whole string length, shot from the side?  You could stick the guitar on a table and take the shot that way.  It would be helpful to see it.

Strings are off man.  I have to bring her in to the tech on Tuesday. But I can tell you the nut isn't finished - just pre-slotted and the neck seemed bowed, so some of the height is coming from the front end of the guitar.

Rightio, Frank.  Hopefully your tech guy can get it setup nicely for you, then.

Thanks, man.  Ms Nesbit is hurtin.  Hopefully the ol guitar doc can patch her up.  :guitarplayer2:

OH I wondered what happen to this   I was looking in 'Just out the box'

Sorry to hear of the troubles.
The very 1st thing I do is take pic's and inspect everything very closely on arrival, that's with anything I buy.
Even did that when my kids we're born  :icon_biggrin:

I had a small problem on a neck on my 1st build, took some close-up pic's and sent off a email
to Warmoth about that.
I'm in OZ & didn't want to send it back just for a small issue.
I was happy how I was treated and looked after ... all good !!

If it's a Warmoth pro neck  :dontknow:
You know you have to straighten the neck from the heel adjust nut, before putting it on.
May-be that's the real problem  :dontknow:

4.  My fault - vintage tint doesn't blend with clear.

What on earth gave you that idea ?  :icon_scratch:

Anyway ...
Hope ya get it worked out  :icon_thumright:
BTW .... Looks great that Purple  :toothy10:

If it's not just a setup issue on your side.
I would've called / email Warmoth direct 1st .... with pic's

NOW .... What would you do if a Dining Table arrived with an issue ?
You'd call THEM up ... I'm sure !!

Haha man yeah I hear ya. The only reason this thread is as long as it is is because I have to wait until this Tuesday for the tech to get his hands on her!

You mentioned that the neck was bowed, have you adjusted the truss rod for a straight neck?

It's easy to sight down the neck from the headstock end and see any obvious bow, if its bowed, dial in a 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the truss rod and give it 10-20 minutes and check it again.

Once you get er straight string er up to pitch, and check it again.

And by the way, if it's bowed, i'd get a new guitar tech.  I don't think it was brought up here by us because in your opening note you mentioned a guitar tech, so we all assumed that bow was a non issue.

It doesn't take much bow at all to raise those strings up too high

Thanks, Alfang. I did mention the bow and uncut nut above the picture of the strings. No tech has seen it yet.  In my last 3 warmoth builds I've been able to get the guitars giggable before handing them off to the tech, so that was the cause of my alarm with this one!

Upated:

I ended up placing the new neck on my Zebra body and the neck pocket angle is def greater on this one.  Ms Nesbit's neck angle is too shallow.  I shipped her out to Rob @ Warmoth yesterday for them to adjust the pocket to the greater fo the two possible neck pocket angles.  I had no idea that they used two different ones.  So, for those of you looking for a 510 wrap, you may have to verify that you have the steeper of the two neck pocket angles.  YMMV.

Thanks to Rob for his great customer service.  I'll update once I get the body back.  :guitarplayer2:
