Just wondering............

Nope. Sorry, not open to the public.  Check out the tour online though.  It gives you a basic idea of the place.

If I order something can I pick it up instead of paying for shipping? :headbang1:
Big Kahuna

That would be more work to try to set aside an order for someone to pick up.
When something is ready to go, they don't want to play games. They want to get it off ASAP so they can work on other orders.

What's "lame" about it?  Warmoth is a mail-order company, not a retail showroom...

I always thought it was a silly policy, even back when some of the employees would sneak us in to buy parts, but I suppose it makes business sense.  I just wish that there was some way that current employees could help out us locals, but it seems like that's not a possibility.  Oh well.

Why should they?
Do you expect a company to bend their business practices to give special treatment to someone just because they are in the area?
Either Warmoth or UPS needs to make their money on shipping costs. You are asking for the equivalent of free shipping.

I agree,

I cant just walk down the street to Dean Markley and and buy strings in their factory just cause I live in the area. they are probably not set up for that. Also, would not want to impose on them.

Adding retail facilities would bump up costs substantially, for all of us - insurance etc. etc.

Customer service is the same weather it's over the phone or in person. It's just one more aspect of customer service.  :headbang1:

I wouldn't expect to order a guitar shipped from a small local mom and pop store, so why should a mail order store be expected to work in person?

This is a pretty good summary.  If you've ever seen pictures of our facility, you'll see darn near every last inch of our building is in use.  Setting aside space for retail would mean of loss of space for everything else.  It would also take staff off the phones to accomodate any walk-in traffic and interrupt office staff for payment processing.  There's a domino effect of costs there.  Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the cost/benefit just doesn't wash; particularly in our current economy.

One day, we'll have more space and it would be great to have some sort of retail showroom.  For now, everything gets shipped. :rock-on:
