Just thought I'd say "WASSUP?!"  Ordered a Warmoth body and neck last week.  Body was from the showcase.  So was the neck but, the neck needs to be fretted, painted and all that.  Looking forward to seeing it in person.  Got a scare after I ordered it though.  Received a call with bad news/good news.  Bad news was the neck twisted when they fretted it.  :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:  Good news was I could pick ANY neck I wanted from the gallery.  Problem was I wanted Birdseye maple and there really wasn't much to pick from unless I wanted a Boatneck which I didn't.  While I appreciated the gesture I went with a "similar" neck at the same price.  It's all good.

I want to give a shout out to Doug (DangerousR6 I think?) who makes the neck plates.  He has already done my artwork and was very professional and a real pleasure to deal with.  Wish I could say the same about the guy who's making my custom water slides.  :tard:

Here are the gallery pics.  More to come when the boxes arrive.

I don't know...I kinda like the PG...I'm usually one of the odd ones out on that though!  :laughing7:

The body looks seriously fantastic though, welcome to forums!

I'm not a big fan of pickguards except on Telecasters.  But in thus case I agree, don't use the pickguard.  Very nice choices, that will be a beautiful guitar.

Welcome to the board, that will be a nice guitar and I look forward to seeing it put together and getting a tone report.

Let me add my voice to the chorus calling for no pickguard. That's too pretty to cover up. I can't wait to see it finished.

I think he was just posting the stock photo of the body, which happened to have a pickguard. I hope they pay the photographers well at Warmoth. Sitting there putting pickguards over amazing tops all day and photographing the shame would put me on edge.

But on the other hand, that pickguard actually looks really great with the color scheme. The warmth of the aged pearl compliments the oranges in the dye. It would just be a shame to hide all that great wood. I could see this working with a smaller SG style pickguard, if done tastefully.

That's a beautiful Tele body.  If you don't mind me asking, what finish is that on the flame maple?  Is that binding the vintage tint natural masked?

Nice  :icon_thumright:  & welcome aboard.
Toss the Pickguard if you want to show off the Flame ....... All thou I kind of like it
I used that colour pickguard on my recent Tele build with similar colours (but had no Flame)

I believe it's ...
High Grade Flame Maple on Alder, Natural Masked Binding, Tobacco Burst Top with Transparent Brown back.

Updown is exactly right on the specs.  High Grade Flame Maple on Alder, Natural Masked Binding, Tobacco Burst Top with Transparent Brown back.

Below is a pic of the inspiration behind it.  I really dug this Schecter PT from NAMM, but it was sold at NAMM.  For some reason I'm thinking regardless of the top I may just go with the PG, because that's what I got in my head.  I am having it routed for dual humbuckers.  I'll coil tap the pups.  Although, I have thought of having the cavity finished a for the neck pickup and body mounting the neck pup for a nice clean look.  It may be too late since I bought it last week they may already routed it for a pup ring pup.  I'll find out today.  If the fretboard overhang and gap is not hideous (no 720 mod) and they can route the neck pup for a body mount I'll probably go with no PG.  Who knows (I don't)?  I haven't bought any hardware, because I want to get it in my hands and get the vibe of it to determine which direction I want to go overall.  Chrome HD, Black HD, PG or no PG.  I'll have to wait to see it in person. :rock-on: :rock-on:

There's always the transparent acrylic Stewmac Pickguard if you must put a pickguard on it, but I think just direct mounting the neck pickup & showing off the beauty in that top would be ideal.

It's been confirmed that the body was already routed for standard pup mounting, so it looks like it's a PG or pup ring this time (THIS TIME!)

Looks very nice.  My take:  Build the guitar YOU want, and let the peanut gallery amuse itself with the next proposal to come down the pike.  We're a fickle lot - always looking for the Next Big Build.

And welcome to the Warmoth addiction - we'll ALWAYS be encouraging with respect to that, whatever our opinions may be with respect to the details of any build.

Hey there,  first good luck with your build.  Mine will be similar.  Tele with flamed maple top brown to clear burst.

Now reading this string has gotten me a bit nervous.  I ordered a rear routed "standard" Tele and plan on using some "standard" DiMarzio Area pickups.  I DO NOT want the pickguard as I want to show off the flamed maple.  I see that this string mentioned this might not work.  Can some one confrim one way or the other?

Much thanks!

Even though the body is routed for the tradional use of a pickguard, simply drilling pilot holes into the body and using foam/springs, you can direct mount the pickup without a pickguard much like many rear routed bodies, you'd still have to use the control plate though.

Is that what you're referring to.
