This one had been sitting in the Showcase for many months, and it was tempting me for the WHOLE time.  I finally broke down and ordered it yesterday.

It is made of Bubinga, with laminate stripes of Bloodwood on the back and an Ebony gecko inlay on the fingerboard.  I ordered it with fretless inlaid Ebony lines, and a black Graphtech TUSQ nut.

When it arrives I will install black Gotoh tuners and a "smoked chrome" metal decal on the headstock, for a nice sleek look.  :)

I was very tempted too by this neck!
I would put no decal at all on the headstock, think it'll look perfec as it is!
What's going on body? You know you need a new one :laughing3:

I haven't quite decided yet on the body.  I currently have an "extra" body that doesn't have a neck on it, but I plan to do a bit of shuffling around with my other Gecko necks.

It really depends on which pickup(s) I intend to use with this neck.  I haven't used a Bubinga fingerboard before.  I'll experiment and see what looks (and sounds) best.  :)

The "extra body" is made of Swamp Ash, and has a solid black finish on it.  I'm not usually a fan of solid color finishes, but this one was really nice and the price was good.

I ordered this body with a single P2-soapbar pickup cavity in the bridge position.  I received it last month and it's been sitting idle ever since.

I was initially thinking of using this body with my existing all-Purpleheart fretless neck.  I saw a Warmoth 4-string bass on eBay which had this same design, and it looked really sharp.  In this case, I would put the Bubinga neck on another existing body.

On the other hand, Showcase body GB9 (I call dibs!) would look really wicked with the all-Purpleheart neck:

If I did this, then I'd need *another* neck.  I'm tossing around several ideas, including putting an all-Maple fretless neck on the black body (above).

So many ideas, so many possibilities... :)

Think the Bubinga would look good (even better) on these 2 bodies you showed us... Purpleheart can look good, but I think would not be the best match on the black or brownish Korina, but I can be wrong, sometimes things in real life looks better than the brain image (also the reverse is true :laughing7:)

Dang, man. Are you gonna buy up ALL the Geckos or what?! :laughing11:

I have a classical guitar made entirely of Bubinga, save the top, which is spruce...i think...Anyway I love the sound. real stong and balanced.

For my preferences, a solid color body needs a solid color pegface (my highschool nickname!). I think it'd be a great combo with the Korina body.

What do I know? I paint everything BLACK. :guitarplayer2:

It's in your best interests not to bring that up again.
Elephants never forget. Neither does Nando.
And unlike elephants, Nando never forgives.

Now imagine the darkest Elephant ever... that guys runned out a fight from me... you're in trouble MuyFue :laughing7:

Nice T-shirt design.  I should order me some Snorgtees one of these days.

But getting back to the topic at hand...  Thanks for the suggestions.  I'll take pictures as I try different neck/body combinations.

I have no desire to buy them all, nor to have the most.  I just really like building basses, that's all.  :)

Just expressing my desperation for a 2nd Gecko is all  :icon_thumright:

You have one of the coolest collection of basses I've seen!
Keep 'em comin'!
:occasion14:

"UPS Ship Notification" e-mail received.  If past experience is a guide, my new neck should be here within two days.  :)
