Well it took me long enough, but now I've got a stereo at the shop:

It's a Raspberry Pi based Volumio playback using a HiFi Berry XLR DAC, straight into the Mayfly MF301 active crossover, into a pair of Hypex Class D amps, and into the Mayfly MF201A / MF301 loudspeaker pairs. Now I just need to improve my cable management a little...

Yea sorry man - the sale ran out. It was a Reverb-organized sale that a bunch of us little guys signed up for, but the dates and discounts were pretty much dictated by Reverb.

I will give it a go on the next one!

Your speakers remind me of my little Bluetooth speaker unit, if only because it has the same laminate type of construction as yours. You might know about Wathen Audiophile, but if not I thought you might be interested in them, as they have several lines of speakers using this construction method. HERE is a link to their homepage.

My unit is called the Quarterwave, and is no longer in production. Don Thomas, the owner of the company, said he was practically losing money on every unit sold, to be competitive in that market segment. He still makes the Inertia and Reference Lines (as well as one higher end line that doesn't use laminate construction):

Nice stuff! Glad he's making a go of it. With the high-end loudspeakers I found the margins to just not be there at the price point that the market would accept. I did sell a few sets and I still think they are the finest loudspeakers out there, but when the money's not coming in you gotta pivot. Pedals are more fun - and lighter :)

My little stereo's power supply is dead, and it's currently with the manufacturer for repair. Don told me he'd do it for the cost of parts, but I think he's "fitting it in" to his schedule and he's taking forever. I hope it's not just fried and un-repairable. If you made a similar stereo box (folded port laminate enclosure, aluminum cone speakers, and sub-woofer), and priced it anywhere near reasonably, I would seriously consider buying it. To replace my unit with components from Wathen would cost at least $3,295 (although he'd probably cut me a deal). Here's what one configuration would look like: "Herman" all tube (EL84) amp and a pair of 9"x 9" "Inertia Cube" speakers. It would set me back $4,450 at full retail:
