sound excellent.  It has 2 dimarzio SDS'1 single coils and a custom humbucker made by bare knuckle pickups.  Unfortunately i never got to play it much with it being a lefty

NonsenseTele (Fernando) will love that Bare Knuckle  :icon_thumright:

And I'm not sure if I understand that second part... are you a righty?

i know fernando from the BKP forum

i a righty
i am a  guitar builder who sometimes gets asked to do lefties.  Thats fine but its annoying at the end when i cant play them properly

... Did anybody ever get into Badlands?

In his band J.E.Lee was free to play and sound as he liked. Their first LP is one of my favorite hard rock albums, he has one of the best guitar tones I have ever heard. Can't say the same about his tone in Ozzy albums. After RR the Ozzy albums were over produced & over compressed.

I just dug out my Bandlands CD and converted to iTunes.  It is one of those forgotten gems.

i didnt know who he was when i started this project :dontknow:
but the guitar looked interesting enough that i took on the project anyway and it turned me into a fan

Jake absolutely rocks! Always been one of my favorites. Typically he de-tunes his guitar to get the dive bomb effect.

When that came out in '89 (IIRC), I was sure it was the heralding of the return of 70's hard rock.

Alas, not so... rock sunk to the bottom not long after.

Still, great album.

Do you know what's custom about the BK humbucker ?

i dont know what tim did specifically but i do know it was not one of the standard models.  it was referred to as a holdsworth prototype by the guy ordering the guitar.  he had been talking with tim about the best choice for it

As discussed before, Jake would bend the neck on that guitar to the point of almost tearing the screws out. I read an article a long time ago that he kept his guitar tech extremely nervous while he played.

And yes, the Bandlands stuff is some of the best stuff he ever did. I have all of the cds.  :headbang1:

SRV was the same way, I read several articles where Rodriguez said he would not be able to watch most of the shows. Due to Stevie's torture that he would inflict upon No.1....
