^ Agreed. In my view, the body shape AND the pickguard and control plate are the defining factors of the J-bass design.
***Them doing the 3/4 soloist is almost the same thing...aint it? :icon_scratch: this just has unique hardware.
1. The body: It seems logical to start with the neck pocket. Get that sized right for the guitar neck and then reduce the size of the body to be in scale at that smaller size. This should allow them to accurately route the bridge and pup and control cavities. To retain the standard J-bass 'vibe' it makes the most sense to keep it front routed with the pickguard and metal control plate. I'm sure somebody will want it rear routed for no pickguard and no plate, Sheesh!
2. The plate: Ooh, its a big deal! It really should be a mini version of the standard plate. Of course we would want options on how many pot holes we want and what type of switch we want, and chrome, black or gold...This can present a problem. If we can agree on the same setup, like the existing "3 knobs and a hole" (hehee) or "4 holes and a side jack" (haw haw haw) then we can just have...somebody...make a batch of identical custom parts. Dangerous? I'm not volunteering you ok! :laughing7:
3. The Pickguard: The W can make 'em custom I'm sure. Each one will have to be made individually to match the bridge and pickup choices we've...chosen.
I know us Warmoth-a-holics love our options, but i hope this can become a reality.
4. The liscence: Any lawyers out there? I'm worried about the W getting permission to make a tradmarked (copyrighted, whatever) body style in a different size...will this even be an issue?
