So shoot some names at me to think about. I like the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive thus far.

I liked what I heared of the Visual Sound Route 66.

Just looked that up on youtube, sounds really nice mate, thanks for the tip.

I also just looked at the visual sounds website, and I like the look of the Jekyll and Hyde pedal too.

I got a Subdecay Super Nova Drive pedal not too long ago. It rocks. Covers mild OD to Dist. pretty well. If you had asked about fuzz instead of OD I'd recommend the Wampler Leviathan. Just got one and love it.

I have one. It's very well built and sounds great.  If it wasn't for how much I like my big muff I would probably use it more.

I love my Boss MT-2 (Metal Zone). You can pretty much dial in any combo of sounds with its on board EQ

:laughing3:You lost me at big muff. I've heard all those old wasps in jelly jars from the 60's and seventies. Prior to the tube screamer [and most of them since] - they're all cartoonish and hideous nasty.

I had an MXR Distortion+ for a while.  I hear people waxing nostalgic about that and I'd rather wax something else than endure that again.
(Though the Distortion+ actually made a decent preamp for my homemade radio shack magnets forced together taped up and wrapped in way too heavy magnet wire acoustic guitar pickup)

Yeah I felt the same way about the big muff. Then I turned my amp up.

Perhaps it's only the black russian ones that are any good, cause my little big muff sounds horrible.

Fulltone OCD.  One word:  dynamic.

Really depends on what your looking for. Since you said OD that leads me to believe you are looking for a low/mid gain crunch type thing. The OCD is fantastic. That Mike Fuller guy really is a distortion master. I am always flipping gear and at one time ran 2 OCD's (I'm sure there's a joke in there someplace). The GT500 is a good one too. I had a pair of Keeley TS9's for a bit that weren't bad either. Been looking at a Suhr Riot. Havent tried one yet though. I also saw there is a GC exclusive Lovepedal that is kinda cheap. ZVEX has a bunch of cool stuff too. Man we could list stuff all day long. :guitaristgif:

Digitech Bad Monkey, best bang for the $$$

Or get the OCD, I run two (2) in series for cool clean jazz type tones.

Also look at the Timmy pedal, awesome boost/overdrive.

+10,000. I mean, seriously.

If the amp won't do it on its own, you're already in trouble. Best shot at making a wimpy amp sound good if you can't replace it with something ballsy is a cheap little Electro-Harmonix LPB-1.

No coloration, it just adds a powerful stage of gain. If that doesn't make the amp sound properly raunchy, you just need a new amp.

They're only $39, so it's just front-pocket money. What's the worst thing that could happen?
