It might get loud: Satin alpine white JM build

The body and neck showed up about a month before I expected them so am still waiting on some parts. Once I have everything, am taking it to a tech so I don't assume I know enough about guitars and end up using forstner bits and wire caps on my investment. I have a hard enough time just playing these things HA

Anyhow, will just leave this thread open until she's done and post photos as it progresses.

The lighting in my apt isn't great, the body and neck really do look amazing. Alder body, 1pc roasted maple neck with SS frets, TUSQ XL nut. Was obsessed with Tommi's SG growing up, decided to add the touch to mine.

Dimarzio Super Distortion for the bridge, PAF Pro for the neck.

Wow, green ones! :o

I think the crosses look awesome. Can't wait to see (and hear) it when it's fully assembled.

By the way, when you say Tommi's SG, do you actually mean Tony? As in Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath?

got these off Reverb, is one of those 'why didn't *I* think of that?' things. Clear speed knobs painted on the bottom. So simple, but looks great.

yeah, meant Iommi, not Tommi. Did the same thing in my other thread too, not sure where my brain is on that one.

More random parts... Hipshot open-back grip lock machine heads, giving the Planet Waves jack with the shielding case a go, and a big pile of stuff from AllParts.

I apparently missed the part about the switch knobs being sold in pairs, so I have plenty now!

This will be a fine git when done. The green and white is a fresh look. Looking forward to your progress.

Just a quick fit-together to get an idea of what it will look like. I'm digging it!

Thats about as far from  Johnny Marr, and traditional JMs as you can get.

I like it because it is different...

Never a big Smiths fan. My JM loves comes from Mascis and Sonic Youth. Always wanted one, love the sound of the JM soapbars, but a lot of what I like to play requires a little more oomph. So, this has been my plan for a while. Like you said, I liked this idea because it's different.

That, and it gives me an excuse to do another one so I have a more traditional JM in the corral, too. Someday I want to play more blues, so I'll "need" another one  :laughing7:

Yes. 'Need'.  :icon_biggrin:

Welcome to the forum, and to the Jazzmaster club. Just working some final kinks out of my first Jazzy.

I'm really liking your ideas. Very cool aesthetic! Love the green highlights.

More parts today!

This is one of the things I am most curious about, and also proof that I have fully lost my fool mind. Saw these LED killswitches from Iron Age a while ago but you have to drill out a pretty big hole to mount it so never tried one out. I'm not doing roller switches on my JM which leaves all kinds of room under the pickguard so said yes to the idea. Sure, it's gimmicky, but I bet it's a ****-ton of fun, too. These guys do not mess around, everything is really high quality. Pretty impressed with this kit.

anybody wanna guess what color this is when lit?

Uuuugh...

Have almost everything ready for assembly, was just waiting on a 3D lasered neck-plate I had made, and it finally came today.  I'm not a fan. At all. Looks much cheaper than I was hoping for.

Think at this point I'm just going to pick up a plain jane chrome one from somewhere for now. Not like anybody is really going to see it and can swap it in seconds anytime, was just looking forward to every little detail having that personal touch. Have to do the Christmas thing and see how much I have left after, but hoping to have this in someone's hands for finishing by 1st of the year now.

Might I suggest something along these lines...........

My design, engraved by our own DangerousR6. He does great work. Let him know what you want, and I'm sure that together you can come up with something more to your liking.
