You see a guitar in the showcase that is ALMOST exactly what you want?

A non-recessed Floyd with an angled pocket? Aw man...

I am partially posting this so that someone else snatches it up so I can stop being tormented over it.

I mean a Floyd isn't THAT bad right? Right...?

Actually, from a practical point of view, they're quite nice in that they possess a quality that many vibrato bridges don't: they work, and they work well. I heap a lotta abuse on them because they're a pain in the shorts to set up, but really, how often do you do that? The other thing is string changes are no fun and require that you carry around some tools. Finally, they're stupid expensive. But, again: they work. That's a nice feature.

Thing is, you can get that same "working" quality from a Wilkinson/locking tuner setup, or any vibrato based on that design, for half the cost or less of a Floyd. The whole secret to Floyds was the dual knife-edge fulcrum pivot point on the bridge itself, and the locking nut. There was no such thing as locking tuners when Floyd came up with that bridge, hence the locking nut. The dual knife-edge fulcrum was a no-brainer. All you had to do was think for 3 minutes about what you're asking that joint to do, and you'd throw out everything that had been done to date for the obvious solution.

Agreed. Any money I would be saving on the body is wasted on the fact that I have to buy a Floyd.

Its like dangling a carrot though...

Yes! It blows.  I have been waiting a long time for a non-vintage Strat in Candy Turquoise to show up.  Now there are finally some candy finishes showing up in the showcase.  First red, then green, tangerine, yellow, and now blue today blue showed up.  Soooo close.  I can't believe Candy Turquoise isn't more popular.  The Candy Green got taken in 3 days.
