I'm the first to admit my guitars skills are... Nothing. being a (Poor) lefty has made it near impossible to practice, thus why I'm so heavily interested in Warmoths.

One of my all time favorite bands is The Birthday Massacre. and I knew their stuff wasn't particularly hard... but then I saw this kid covering it SPOT ON on youtube...

here is his cover of one of their harder songs... Followed by one thats more... their usual...

Too be honest... his tone is actually Fuller then theirs...

DOES LOOKING GLASS EVEN HAVE CHORDS?!

is their music really THIS EASY?!

Jesus Christ! He needs some medication or something. That guy can't fudging sit still! :tard:

yeah I've been stalking him for the last 15 minutes...

I think he's like... the Mod of their Fan Forum...

Either that is incredibly in time,
or he is doing a very good guitar mime of it,
i cant tell which it is.
All i know is i know what a really good bass player sounds like doing a cover, and you can tell its him playing it
with this i cant quite descern its him playing it from the tune to be honest.
Not being sour, just feels like a mime to me.

My Question still stands.

Is this bands Music really that easy?

Also, this appears to be Scalpel. quite possibly the bands biggest known fan on the net...

If anyone had the time to learn all their major songs and play them perfectly. its him.

Also. Like I said. he actually has a better Tone than TBM does.

I imagine that has to do with the fact he isn't playing EMG Actives.

Well looking at the tabs of the two songs they are mainly three note chords and some single string playing.
Definately far from maiden on the hard to play scale id say  :laughing7:
So id say yes if you pratice it enough
As you said this guy is probably the biggest fan of theres
so i bet ask him to play anything else
and he wouldnt be able to do squat!
he just knows there songs scarily too good.

So basically what your telling me is my favorite bands music makes Green Day look like Dokken?

... thanks...

:sad1:

Hi there man,

one thing I've learned over the past decade is that nothing is too easy. People might bash certain guitarists or bands or whatever but playing guitar is easy, making it sound good is not. notes can be fast/slow, loud/quiet. Sure theres maybe technical stuff thats really difficult to play, but the hardest part is making the technical stuff sound good rather then just being able to play in a complex fashion. Anyone who has heard a fast midi guitar pro solo will know what i mean. Articulation is the hardest thing to master as a guitarist in my opinion, and the thing that really seperates the men from the boys. It's pretty subjective stuff though but hard regardless of the type of music you like.

Hey i wasnt insulting there music, its good, but you asked how hard it would be to play, and for what it involves its not as technical as other bands
but it would still be good.

I know, and I knew!

I was Jesting.

Dokken would still be popular had they not... worn zebra print tube tops and red velvet/spandex pants...

Yeah that stuff isn't all that hard to play. The guy is playing in a drop tuning so he can play the power chords with one finger. The beginning of the first song isn't easy for a beginner, but isn't technically hard. Just takes some concentration so you don't screw it up (that's always my problem with parts like that).

I don't understand. You have a hard time practicing, and that makes Warmoth interesting? I don't see the connection. Is it because you think you need a better/different instrument?

As for TBM, yeah, that's puppy chow. But, don't disregard composition, arrangement, and tone when it comes to good music. Nothing The Beatles or The Rolling Stones ever did was particularly complicated, either, and they enjoyed a certain amount of success <grin>

If you're early into the instrument, there are few better and smaller investments you could make than a metronome, and be slavish about playing against it. Learn to count, and make meter second nature. Having that, you can almost get away with murder.

+1, I didn't think it looked particualry easy or hard, just music being played.  Like the Edge from U2 or Adam Jones from Tool, neither is particularly dexterous, but still make great music.  There are plenty of people that play fast that suck and plenty that play slow that rock.  Good and bad ain't always about hard or easy.

I can't discern which is which from the videos.

It means that after I bought my right handed guitar it became clear that due to many factors my left hand could not fret. So I started looking at lefty guitars...and soon learned my selection was shite. I'm a rather picky person. so I despise a lack of choice.

Never finding a guitar I was happy enough with to buy(largely because I had such a hard time finding guitars to even TRY.) Meant I've yet to buy another Guitar. I have enjoyed a Few C-1 style schecters. but the better built/well priced models all have actives, and finishes I'm not super keen on.

And lastly. I like the way Fender neck are shaped. I can tell that from holding a normal guitar.

if you're a beginner everything can be hard to do, dont think of music as complex or hard being good and simple being bad, people still have to like it. having speed and having technique and timing are tools to use, like colors added to a palate, using more of them doesnt make the art better. regardless of physical skill level the fundementals must still apply, harmony, melody, repitition and variation, disonance, alot of these things that can be discribed come naturally and unconsciously to people who have no formal instruction and alternatively dont come to people with high levels of music education. if it's what you like the guy must be doing something right.

as far as how hard is it, well creativity is lost on me but mimicry comes naturally, well if i have the tabs, i can mimic expression but dont have perfect pitch or anything near it, if i tell you it is easy that doesnt mean much to you. subtleties in expression of the notes isn't always easy and is more noticed by the average listener on simpler music than say a solo in a megadeath song. if it's really fast and uniform in tempo and volume as long as you hit most of the right notes youre good but if you dont bend or vibrato a note with the right feeling or sustain a note just right a fan of the music will notice especially you. remember you never sound half as bad to someone else if it's not quite right as you sound to your self.
