Is there a pick guard that will work on the Mooncaster guitar?

Hi all,

I'm building my first Mooncaster, I'm a huge fan of the vintage star casters and I want to capture that essence as best I can.

It doesn't look like warmoth offers a Mooncaster pick guard. Has anybody built one of these guitars and found a pick guard that works? Do Fender Starcaster pick guards fit the Mooncaster? Any custom services?

Thanks so much in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

You might be entering unchartered territory but who knows someone may have done something like that.

Try this place they have many more types than what are shown it says.

Do you have an old pickguard that can be used for a pattern. If so this place will make anything you want or they may have a tracing. They have a ton of different style fenders.

A Fender Starcaster pickguard - original or reissue - wouldn't fit any of Warmoth's standard pickup routings and may well be too large overall. I'd guess that W's standard pickup placement is a little further apart than Gibson's, otherwise you might get lucky with something intended for one of their jazzers.

Why not just cut one yourself? The only critical measurement is the one between the pickups. Pickguard sheet is easy to cut.

FWIW, if I ever get my own pickguarded Mooncaster off the drawing board, I'll probably have one laser-cut by these guys (in the UK) to my own design. It wouldn't be much trouble for me to draw you one up as a pdf/eps/whatever vector drawing that you could give to Pickguardian or someone to cut for you. It also might be worth contacting Pickguardian to see if they've already made one.
