PICS IN TELE FORUM (3/1/09)

I am calling it the Invader Telecaster.

Body:
Mahogany Alpine White
Tele Humbucker Bridge
White/Black/White Pickguard

Neck:
Indian Rosewood Conversion 24 3/4
SS6230 frets
Graphite nut

Pickups:
SD Invader Neck and Bridge
Gonna wire in a Black Ice
3way/Vol/Black Ice
250k pots

This thing should be obnoxious and beautiful. If my experience serves me, it will sit in the mix really nicely. My inspiration is an old Mustang a friend used to have and my SD Curlee. I imagined them mating and having a crack baby.

That sounds like one kick ass tele there dwayneed. The Invaders are bad ass pups, I love mine. The Black Ice ought to be an interesting addition to them. I have a Black Ice in one of my Jacksons.. :rock-on:

The Black Ice requires 250k pot, the 250 for the volume should not sound so harsh. No cap since I am using the black ice.

OK, I have no experience with the Black Ice.  I'm looking forward to your review on the sound, and maybe a sound clip.  :icon_thumright:

It's suppose to be an overdrive if you will, but is really only noticeable on a clean setting. If you're using alot of distortion tou won't really hear any difference.

I do not use effects any more, my idea is to see what it does when running really hot into a tube amp. See what kind of organic overdrive tones I can get with it.. hoping something different I can play with.  :guitaristgif:

it should sound pretty good then just running with no dist.  :guitarplayer2:

I'd go for a 500k volume at least. With Invaders you need all the highs you can get, IMO

Agreed, but in his case using the Black Ice it requires the use of 250 pot, I don't think it will work with a 500..

I thought that since it connects to the tone, the tone pot had to be 250 - and maybe the volume could be 500?

"NOTE: All pots are audio taper. Use a 250K ohm pot for the Black Ice — volume and tone pots can be 250K or 500K depending upon personal preference."

I guess then it all depends on how you want it set up then, may have to try that with mine. :dontknow:

Yeah initially I'll go 250, if it isn't the sound I envision I will try 500

Good news, parts shipped! Bad news, I will be out of town when they deliver. No biggie, I will have a weekend project to do!  :cool01:

Well, just got her strung up and plugged in. I need to do intonation, action, etc still but I wanted to hear it. I usually play single coil lower output pickups so I'll reserve my tone comments until I finish setup on everything.

I will say that I am probably gonna spend some time tonite playing nothing but big power chords.  :party07: This is the first set of humbuckers I have had in a long time so it seems huge.
