Introducing Black Dog Tele 1/2 Moth

Yeah, very nice build. The combination of that neck with Tonar's finish is just perfect  :icon_thumright:

I'm curious, how does the pickup selection work? I would assume Strat style with a RWRP middle pickup, but then you lose the traditional neck+bridge option.

Yeah, I'm curious about that, too. Is the bridge pickup a stacked humbucker? It looks a little tall.

Hey 6man,

Yes, the pickup selection is a traditional Strat set-up so, I did lose the neck+bridge option.  I thought about adding that with a push-pull knob, but figured I would see how it sounded this way first.
I am really happy with the way it sounds.  The Roadhouse Specials really sound great and I will likely leave it the way it is....

No stacked bucker, just the standard set of Roadhouse specials.

very awesome Bart, sorta Nashville tele-ish... :icon_thumright:

Thanks Doug,

This is actually my first tele, so I wanted a sort of traditional tele with a spin.  This was really going to be a stealth Esquire when I started.
But I had this neck hanging around for over a year waiting for a build.  When I got the trans black tele back from Tonar, I really liked how the kingwood looked with that body.
So, now I still have the original neck for the stealth Esquire build laying around.  Dang, guess I will have to build another tele  :toothy10:

And don't worry about Boz's drinking habits; he has been through the 12 step program.  I am the only one to worry about...

The bridge pickup is the standard tele bridge dimension. It is not a tall pickup. Maybe it's the angle the photograph was taken.

Bart, that's an outstanding take on a classic. Love it.

Who's your guitar tech? I've only used Bronson Guitar Works in Scottsdale since I moved here, and I'm always looking for other good options.

Hey Damon,

I know you have mentioned Bronson Guitar Works on another thread and I have considered trying them.  Not that I am unhappy with my guy, but it's always good to see what is out there.
Ya' never know; might find someone better.

Anyway, I use a place that is now called "Gary Lowe's Note Works."  It used to be the store front shop for GuitarelEctronics.com.  However, about 6 months ago GuitarElectronics.com split the website from the store front shop.
Gary Lowe, who was the main electronics man for GuitarElectronics.com, purchased the store front shop and the website is run by a the same person who used to own them both.
Gary Lowe is an amp man god and performs real magic.  He modded my Blues Junior massively to make it almost burst into flames.
Can't say a bad word about him and he has quite a reputation in the electronics field.  Just a genuinely all around nice guy.
The main guitar guru is Dennis.  And he does some really great work as well, but I am not as familiar about his past.  I just know he does great work.

Here is the contact info:
Gary Lowe's Note Works Electronics
2350 W. Mission Lane #6
Phoenix, AZ  85021
602-861-3056
Hours: Tuesday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The  shop is a couple blocks east of I-17 & Dunlap

Good luck and let me know how it goes if you try them out and I will do the same for Bronson Guitar Works

Stay cool &  :rock-on:

Thanks for the info. I need some work done on a few guitars right now so I may take one to them and see how it goes.
