Hey i have a body with a recessed Floyd route, and need to install the bridge studs, there is an old post on here about putting the studs into the freezer and hammering them in but i'm not sure if that is a good idea or not. If anyone here has experience/advice with this I'd much appreciate it

fwiw I'm building a guitar with a fine tuning floyd, no locking nut and a tremol-no because i'm a heretic and just couldn't be bothered waiting. I'm that guy.

That's how I did it, and nothing went wrong.

If I'd had access to some form of press I'd have used that.

Forgot to mention I used a bit of vaseline at the base of the studs, keep it greasy so it goes down easy.

:laughing7:

I'm pretty sure the freezer move is completely unnecessary. I mean, the stud is what, 10mm in diameter? Put a caliper on it to verify the dimension, take it down to -75°F, measure it again and if it's even measurable, it might be 9.999mm. Not gonna make any difference for installation.
