If you start a thread...

I'm  still trying to recover that someone isn't familiar with Rodney Dangerfield!!! Dude, check him out you will never laugh as hard, also check out Sam Kinison.

Sorry if off topic  but I think this was critical info to pass on to another guitar player!!

I think the issue with marking a thread as "answered" is that this is a forum, not a Q&A site (like Stack Exchange).  So there's apt to be a discussion, commentary, jokes, memes, etc. which are discouraged on sites like Stack Exchange.  That's not to say you shouldn't follow up on your questions and at least make note of "X works", "Y doesn't work", "Z didn't work for me but might for other people", and so on.

But yes, a lot of Internet dwellers post a question, get an answer, and then disappear into oblivion without ever telling the forum what the answer they used is.  You'd almost need a separate website or a sub-forum with a different design to properly have an "answered" question (maybe with votes on answers).  It'd be UW.SE, basically.

*nervously checks posts to see if I have any "answered" topics that need wrapping up*

The original premise of the thread was not to have a system for the best answer or already answered or some separate function or to stop a discussion.

It was simply this.

Person joins forum.
Asks questions
gets answers or discussion.
The original person provides no feedback or thanks.

Its just not very good etiquette on the internet or otherwise to not at least be involved in some way.

The Line 6 website has such a function, works quite well.

What kind of function Tony?

What?  Are we at a Rodney Dangerfield gig?

I have not heard of Rodney Dangerfield, so you have lost me on that one.

And here is my contribution to the thread... Watch this Rodney Dangerfield video... then let's all get fired out about learning how to do the Triply Lindy!  :occasion14:
