"If I win the raffle......"

Mmmmm, I don't know, young Jedi. You know I think very highly of you, Max, but I'd have to say that the money should go towards a complete build. If you plan on just finishing off something, if it was me, I'd finish it off and give the rest of the cash to the second place person to do a complete build. That's just me though. We all kind of went into this with the idea that the money would be going towards a Warmoth build. As much as I would like to win I would be just as happy for someone that hasn't really had the opportunity to do one yet.

That's a pretty good idea, actually. Well, we'll see come drawing day.

With the amount of money coming out of this I expect to see a very nice body and neck, and possibly the hardware come from Warmoth. No reason to skimp out and go on the cheap. The whole idea behind the raffle was to build a very nice Warmoth guitar, not finish one that's already going together.

I just went looking at the W gallery, there are some fancy bodies on there that sell for 7-9 hundred bucks, or, with the raffle prize as high as it might be, a winner could walk away with a couple nice painted complete guitars. If you buy the $300 ones

I need a "None more white" guitar. I used to have a white guitar, I painted it EVH style, dang it!

Anything I build is going to have a Badass III and Hipshot tuners. W doesn't carry those, unfortunately.

if i won although i don't have tickets yet i would build an lp for a friend in need. a gold top look alike but probably korina/maybe blackkorina body and i'm playin with the idea of either a wenge/ebony neck or a korina/ebony neck. pickups would have nickel covers and with 4 pots it would have some clever tone controls. i'd hate to give it away but i owe him and he could use some chearing up.

don't want to put anyone on the spot but maybe DangerousR6 could whip up a special plate...I would be willing to give him one free spot for the cost and trouble.

Oh yeah, great when you have your mind set on a Gecko.  :toothy12:
Really, I'd say let the winner decide what (s)he wants to bolt on to his/her instrument.

It's all good, that's why I said "possibly the hardware come from Warmoth" because I know there are things out there Warmoth doesn't carry. Definitely get what you want, it's not for me to say. :icon_thumright:

I'm pretty sure I can get everything except the pickups and the case from Warmoth.
MULLY
I may be able to do the pups though.

I would be able to do the pickups but not the preamp if I go for the '54.

It pays to not be in love with flame maple. I just checked and for $2000 I could pretty much be fully set up on two basses. One '54 and one '72, so I'd have all three big styles of P.

That's a thought too. Someone mentioned solid color bodies, you could get 2 that way. Only thing is that with adding the neck and parts that bill goes up pretty quick. My first build hit $1500.00 in the blink of an eye.

If I win I may just do that though. Build 2 solid colored bodies then raffle one off here to the other members......a free raffle of course.

With that kind of money i'd get a 7/8ths strat, and exotic 24 fret 24 3/4ths scale neck, see if tonar could do a nitro finish on the quilt maple top, AND get a dangerous neckplate.

My first build hit $1500 when I stopped counting. But, if I resist the urge to get $300 pearl paint jobs.. I could easily squeak two. Easily, ish. I have two bodies, two necks, two pickguards and the pickups for one of them in my card right now for $1300. Weren't we looking at like $2000 for the grand prize?

My white Strat, after buying pups on Yahoo Auction, ran me a total of about $1200.00. It's the neck that gets you. I have a $250.00 body and a $500.00 neck (extreme example).

At $1300 for the wood and pickguards, sans paint jobs.. Figure $160 for eight Ultralites, $200 for two Badass III's, $300 for pups.. I'd have enough left for shipping. Paint, strings and cases would have to come out of pocket I guess.

So maybe I'd just do one and maybe buy the neck for #3.. I'd have trouble getting away with another grand for paint and accessories out of pocket this year, especially when I need an amp.

First I have to enter the raffle  :laughing7:

But if I won there are probably 7 projects i'd consider.

an H-S-H strat
an S-S-t tele
an S-H mustang
a floydy soloist with AHb-1 Blackouts
a hardtail soloist with EMTY Blackouts (for different droptunings)
a real Jazzy '72 thinline
or a Metal/Jazz seven string with passive pups.
