Ibanez Tremolos in Warmoth Guitars

If I were to have a custom guitar built by Warmoth (lets say a strat), but i dont want to  put an OFR or a Schaller Floyd Rose in as my bridge, can I opt to send in a tremolo unit such as an Ibanez Edge to be routed for and installed on the guitar?

Best to call Warmoth about that.  I have heard of them routing bridges apart from the standard ones they provide, but there may be a limitation to what they can do. You are correct, in that you would need to send it to them.

alright, to answer my own question, and for future reference, no, warmoth cannot fit an ibby trem, because their machines are only programmed to fit
fender spec trems.  So for those of you who may also be wondering ( i doubt there are many) warmoth cannot build to these specs.

It's a bit ridiculous to expect Warmoth to write the program to route for any bridge you want on your body.

+1

P.S. Aren't Ibby FR-clones the ones the need that wacky individual channel routes for the string lock screws?
Or is that just purely cosmetic?

the "lions claw" route is purely cosmetic.  Only steve vai's signature jem and universe line of ibanez guitars have that rout stock.  Guitars can be modded to look like that though.

I still think Warmoth could do very well by themselves to hire a top-flight tech (luthier?) who's sole job was to do all "our" weird stuff - I'd bet they'd end up with about three of them. I need a rear-routed Jaguar body with no bridge, trem or screwy electronic routing, and Warmoth loses the job even though the boards are right there, there's got to still be a pin router around somewhere... dude could come in at midnight work till dawn, surely in this economy all those hundred of guys who had the $4,000 custom guitars profiled in Premier Guitar in 2007 need a job. Oh wait - they're all working for Ed Roman! :laughing3:

they don't change the CNC program, they make a template and rout it by hand.

they dont do this.  They wont rout the trem if its not already programmed into the CNC machine.  I wish they would make a template and do it by hand for an upcharge though.  I wouldnt mind paying more to fit IMO the best full floating tremolo unit out there (Original Ibanez Edge or Lo-Pro) into my guitar.  Oh well.
