Okay, now that I've had a chance to listen, I'll give my (probably rather harsh) feedback.

The concept is fine. No issues there. Writing is also fine.

The execution... Needs work.

Firstly, I'll go against some of the other opinions and say that I think the drums are awful. The parts are lame, the timing is way off, and the snare sounds like a cardboard box.

Not to be too harsh.

Your playing is fine. No issues there.

I'll lay some programmed drums over it if you're open to that. Send the track, sans drums, to prestonrice236 at gmail.com if you like. They'll sound like real drums, I promise. :blob7:

Ha!  It's all good, man.  Thanks for the feedback.  Honestly, I feel the same way about the drums.  I can do the programmed drums, also, but I appreciate the offer.  The drummer is the drummer from my old band from back in the early '90s.  He and I lost touch and just got back in touch about a year ago, along with the rest of the guys in the band.  I came up with the idea for a remote project with him and he liked the idea.  Honestly, he was a lot better back then.  He hadn't played his drums for a number of years.  But, he's shaking off the rust and it's good for him.  I have no deadline as to when the song has to be done.  It's not like we have an album contract or a world tour coming up anytime soon.  ;)  I'm sure he'll come up with something decent sometime soon.  If not, I can always break out my drum machine.  But thanks again for the offer, thanks for giving it a listen, and thanks for the feedback.  I thought I was being a bit harsh about his drumming, but the feedback I got from you and from a couple of friends elsewhere, it seems my impressions are shared by others.

Cool stuff.

One thing though, I'm not talking drum machine type stuff. :blob7:

I'm talking Superior Drummer. Mmmmm. Sampled live studio drums... Very best. ;)

Best of luck! You've got some skill, can't wait to hear the finished product.

Thanks for the offer and for the positive feedback.  When I get something I'm happy with, I'll put it back up here.

It breathes more at 128. The drums I agree are the weaker part.

Thanks for the feedback.  I like that, "it breathes more."  I must say that, when playing and recording it at 128 bpm, it felt like a deeper and more natural groove.  I also tried 130 and 132 bpm.  For some reason, to me it sounded and felt rushed.  Part of that is probably the player, and perhaps part of it the rhythm, itself.
