I want an offset. Gimme your holy grail specs?

I never even wanted one then you had to go and build your Mustang.
😦

I don't know what to say!

I'm sorry?

Can I be sorry and flattered at the same time?

"I am sorry, but I am flattered!"

I didn't know I was that influential!

Strangly enough; I still think that Mustang is a very strange little guitar and I still have to find its purpose.

Fender later revisited that. I have a trans red (they call it Transparent Cherry) chambered mahogany body Strat. Put in some Bootstrap pups I got from our own AA. Weighs 6lbs and sounds awesome. Especially the neck. If neck Strat tone is the goal, it’s the one I grab out of the Strats for that.

Ive decided on Sherwood Green metallic. Found a body over at Bloomdoom - 3lbs 10oz of alder!

So next question is: trem and bridge. Mastery certainly gets a lot of praise, as does Staytrem. Seems like Mastery is the choice of bridge, but trem doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal. I was thinking of maybe a Fender AVRI trem?

Also need to settle on some pickups. Novak has a LOT of options.

As for the electronics, the rhythm circuit seems to have its fair share of endorsers and detractors alike. PTB wiring sounds like an interesting proposition but I can’t imagine a JM needs a ton of bass cut. Part of me wants to mess with the formula and do an onboard fuzz or something, part of me wants to wiring it up vintage spec.

The "holy grail" for a long time was to put a Mustang bridge on and use the standard trem. There is no radius adjustment in that setup so I would look at other options for a bridge. As far as trem systems go, the vintage ones are very subtle trem action and I havent tried anything else to have a real opinion on them.

For pickups, JM pickups are not very thick sounding IMO and the rhythm circuit is useless. I personally would go for a P90 in a Jazzmaster cover for the bridge if not some of the other options like Fender's CuNiFe pickups under JM covers.
