I shook Linda Manzer's hand today

thanks guys.  Yes the guitar sounds really good.  It is very very articulate - runs and hammer ons and pull offs just pop out of the guitar.  It's well set up and easy to play as well.  A complete win.  :headbang:

Should be - it was expensive!

Hey TBurst - I mic'ed it with a Neumann TLM102 pointed just a little ahead of the sound hole.  Then into a grace designs mic pre, then an apogee duetII.  Then straight into the mac.  The preamp had everything below 120Hz rolled off about 3 db - the guitar has a lot of bass on it!  No other EQ or compression or whatever on the guitar.

Everything else was recorded with that setup as well (with different EQ and stuff of course).

Oh and the song I wrote for my oldest sons' grade one class.  They really liked it.  I'm the coolest Dad ever! :)

No doubt. But, if I were you, I'd promote it. It's not just for 1st graders. I suspect it would have a wide appeal. Nostalgia sells, especially when it appeals to simple truths and happy times.

Hi Folks,

So I took the guitar on a little trip out west.  Besides using the opportunity to show the kids the rocky mountains, I had an important gig to play.

I wasn't that worried about air travel, having flown with guitars before and having a carbon fiber Hoffee case, I figured it would be pretty stress free.  What I didn't count on was that the guitar (and all our other luggage) would be left out on the airport tarmac for 30 minutes or so while we had a torrential downpour.  Here's a little shot after the clouds lifted:

The guitar was on the luggage train in the center.  I even got to see it being loaded onto the plane from my seat:

Amazingly I wasn't that stressed.  I knew it was the best case you can buy and there was nothing I could do, so I waited out the 4 hours on the flight.  When we arrived in Edmonton, I immediately opened up the case to see what was what.  I had no idea what to expect - maybe the case was full of water or something.  Here's what I saw:

It arrived alive!

All that to say:  if you have an important instrument, a Hoffee case seems to be up to the task of protecting it.

"UNITEEEEEEEEEDD ...."  :icon_jokercolor:

Can't get that song out of my head when people mentions guitars and air travel.

TT: Good to see it can survive when properly packed and not too many luggage carriers throwing it around.

Very well done! Sounds great!

You're not really sending gonna put a bender on there, are you?

Just so you know, I'm questioning your sanity.

Thanks.  Now if SubHead starts questioning my sanity, then I'll know I need to get into a 12 step program or something...

Sanity? Heck, if it were mine I'd get a rig like Phil Baugh - pedals to bend all six strings!

It was made out of some MSA-brand pedal steel parts and was cable driven. And there actually are some semi-acoustic pedal steel guitars, Paul Franklin has one (his father builds Franklin pedal steel guitars). They are generically knows as "cat-can" steels, because the earliest one used a catfood can on a dobro-type resonator cone. Not too much totally original that you can make up in the guitar world!

There you go!  a ringing endorsement.

Oh and Gene Parson's just shot me an email:

Hi Trevor,

Your guitar has arrived safe and sound. I'll contact you when your StringBender installation nears completion.

All the best,

Gene Parsons

No turning back now!  :headbang:

An update.  Gene sent me an email saying that the guitar was finished and I was to phone him.  Spent a bit of time on the phone and he sounds like a fine gentlemen.  We talked about how to set up the P White guitar, and he gave me some interesting insights on how Marty Stuart likes his bender set up.

So far my experience with Mr. Parsons has been top notch.  Will report again once I have the guitar back!

This is certainly going to be interesting to see. Make sure you've got batteries for your camera.

Update!  The guitar just arrived.  A couple of snapshots for you all.  Better photos will have to wait until I'm done playing it!

Well, I'm gobsmacked. I can't believe you did that. People say I've got big balls, but yours have to have their own orbits.

I don't know what to say. Need more pictures, for sure. And some recordings. Gotta hear it.

Ah - nothing like that.  I'm just a guy who likes bent notes.  BTW, the guitar sounds pretty much the same as it did.  There is an incredible Rube Golberg thing going on inside of it mind you.  I intend to get the mirror out and have a good look once I get home tonight.

I let Peggy know that I got the guitar back.  She has not replied yet  :)  I do get the impression that it's her guitar as much as it is mine so I'm sure she'll have something to say about it.
