Compare to my acousticView attachment 67617
I don’t know if this helps, but this shows the nut slots height.
Copy that, I will give a try. This seems like a good direction am heading towards.Rolling the fingerboard is very easy, you grab a razor and just carefully scrape the edge inbetween the frets a few times (think 1x each 30/45/60 degree passes).
Correctly slotting the nuts isn’t hard, but probably best left to a luthier or tech who has done has the right files for the job cause once you go too low, ya gotta shim it or replace it.
That was my point of concern initially as well,
Yeah make sense.Presumably along with your other points of concern, rather than myself being concerned about it also![]()
Thanks TBurst,Something noted, your JPs are offset waist while the W Strat is not.
Can't tell from the pics on the nut height. Do you have spark plug feeler gauges? If not then use a piece of paper.
Capo at fret 2 and measure the gap at fret 1 between the 1st fret and bottom of string. Do this each with the acoustic, JP and Strat.
If having to use paper, measure it has how many pieces will fit there without moving the string.
Really tall frets could be tricking your hand into pressing down the fingertips too hard (to feel 'securely seated', so to speak)...Thanks TBurst,
Interesting I didn’t know the JP is asymmetrical. The Taylor is probably not asymmetrical I think the neck shape might not be the culprit.
I do know the frets on this W Strat are significantly larger than most of my other guitars, maybe that could be the cause?
Will do the measurements later.
I did bring it to my tech yesterday and he said the nut slots are pretty low already, he said they are lower than the stock fenders.
I just measured the space between the 1fret and the sting with the capo on the second fret.Something noted, your JPs are offset waist while the W Strat is not.
