I joined the army!!!

One guardsman source of mine said the king's guard has a lot to do in a year. Mostly nosy tourists wandering around and dealing with the druggies (with crazy dogs) and hookers hanging around Akershus fortress where the office of the joint chief of staff is located.

I watched the Norwegian/Russian border and nothing happened (that I can tell you....) :icon_biggrin:

Guess there's lot of crazy people running around our fylke (state) nowadays. yesterday someone torched the skijumping stadium at Rena, now thats heresy for us norwegians!

Nobody was near the church when it caught fire. But it's sad that maniacs can do such things.

Probably has something to do with Varg Vikernes' recent release from prison...  There's a lot of strange people in the world.

I'm going in to the army in august, and I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm going to "His Majesty The King's Guard".
The battalion has two main roles. It serves as the Norwegian King's lifeguards, guarding the royal residences and "Akershus Fortress" in Oslo, and is also the main infantry unit responsible for the defence of Oslo.

I'm joining the Kp1 - Rifle company, consisting of two rifle platoons (infantry and Urban Warfare/MOUT), one escort platoon and one recon platoon.
here is some pictures from the Kp1 platoon.

Does anyone else here have experience from the army?

oh wow, join the army..meet all kinds of interesting people..amd kill them. Lucky you!..Ya know, close quarters combat is kind of antiquated.
I mean, they have the Neutron bomb now. I suppose its just not as profitable and doesnt keep near enuf people and legislators employed. War is big buisness.
Defence contracts keep this country moveing foward. Keeps Hollwood fueled with their stories.   Big oil and the military industrial complex  ( well, and big banking) hand in hand for a prosperous tommorow!. Well, Wish i could find a  decent job there.. do they need any people to make doughnuts?
