Went to my regularly scheduled (monthly) jam session last night and the owner of the shop had the eye candy out. I got to play all of these.

L to R: James Tyler, 1961 Fender Stratocaster, 1979 Fender Stratocaster, 1955 Fender Stratocaster, 1963 Fender Stratocaster. It wasn't anything like "Be careful" or anything like that. He just brought them down and let us have at 'em. Actually, I think someone broke a string on the '55 and he didn't even bat an eyelash. I really liked that '55. It played really well and sounded great.

sorry for the crap photo. all I had was my iPhone camera. I'll take my Canon next month and have him bring them out again

I love the '55. The white with gold pickguard has always been a favorite of mine. Was the white translucent at all?

agreed..
it is like Gilmours #1 (which wasn't really the first;))

I always wanted to replicate that one, until I found out that there's a squire looking like that

all these people that relic their guitars have completely spoilt anything I ever found appealing about the genuine article  :toothy10: Great piece of history im sure, if they were mine they would be sold and a whole heap of guitar/gear would be purchased.  :laughing7:

I don't know, man. I think if you heard that '55 and felt how smoothly she plays you may think twice about selling her. hehe!!

with you 100% on the relicing though

I like the blue one... a lot.

like that. but an HSH hardtail with black hardware/pickguard.

I need a couple million dollars. and a few hundred guitars...

The 61 blue guitar does look beautiful, except the pickguard looks like it's covered in hepatitis.

Wow, that's an amazing collection.  You're a lucky guy.  Were those his guitars or the shop guitars for sale?

What did you think of the James Tyler?  I'd love to hear an opinion after all the discussion we've had on the brand here.

Nah, man, the shop where we do our jam sessions is an Italian restaurant. Those belong to the owner.

Sorry, the Tyler didn't interest me as much as the '55 and '61 did. I hardly even looked at it.
