I don't understand

I do understand disliking sports teams though. .

in order to dislike a team you pretty much have to like a team, which to me is totally illogical in the first place.

Or you have to dislike the fans.  A lot of people hate Raiders fans, and therefore the Raiders.

hehehe if it makes them happy I guess - like I said before, some people need something to hate.

My personal hatred for Gibson product in general comes from having to work with them as a guitar tech. The shoddy construction/workmanship meant that I had to worry more about them than the Fenders. Which I didn't have to worry about at all.

Gibsons can sound great, and are wonderful for recording. I just hated having to deal with them in a live situation. Tuning issues and string breakage were much more common with them even after a setup by one of Nashville's best (Joe Hinchliffe, Corner Music) and being strung with 12s in standard tuning. That's my beef with them. I was so glad when Warner went back to Fender (and Warmoth!).

It's pretty easy to hate them if they play in your town and the Raider fans proceed to trash your neighborhood and try to flip cars over... whether they win or lose.

It's guilt by association.  Plus the fans go wherever the team goes.  It's like having a friend who has a really obnoxious significant other that always accompanies them to parties.  If the behavior is bad enough, eventually people just stop inviting the original friend because they don't wanna deal with the idiot.

Okay, so total hilarity...  Another forum I belong to has this ridiculous thread going on where they're saying this one Strat is "blingy" because it has lightly figured birdseye on the neck and gold hardware.  Other than that, it's a plain red Strat.  People are actually having to defend figured wood because there are these people who are like "figured wood is just too much, it makes you stick out like a sore thumb" blah blah blah.

They are absolutely right.  The LAST thing you want to do when you're playing guitar is stand out in a crowd.

...okay, maybe that last one is a little too much.

No real issue.  I just think he's funny sometimes.  :icon_biggrin:  Especially the Alphasmart thing, he gets so goofy about it.  "That device is of the DEVIL!"
